I think it's cute that he attributes his son's traits to his wife. But sometimes it feels like he's absolving himself of any responsibility.

First day in college and already sparks have started flying between Anokhi and Shaurya.

Shaurya is in a happy state of mind and tells his father so, but the latter knows his son well enough to know he is hiding a lot.

I liked the reference Shaurya makes about Anokhi 'Lagta hein nange paon chalne hein'

He is trying to say this in an indifferent manner but with his innate good nature, he cannot see someone suffering even if it is Anokhi and her jootelall,.

Ravi and Anokhi little conversation is cute and I missed these little scenes later on.

Shaurya good heart was shown in that scene. Also when he introduced her as an SIAC student. It seems like he's accepted that she's there to stay!

I'm also sad that we didn't get future Ravi and Pandey scenes.

Bebo has so much of Devi's trat, the way she looked down on the college guy and said 'aapne'. Both Bebo and her gang are now on a mission and this is further reinforced when Anokhi refers to her as a weak student and later she sees arguing with Shaurya.

Bebo would have been a Devi copy if she had gotten a storyline. She is much more manipulative than her sister Kitty.

Shaurya is supposed to have forgotten axbout everything that has happened before but it does not sxtop him from refering to past events to Anokhi. The way he treated Anokhi was very unprofessorlike when he asked Anokhi if she needed an invitation to join the class. Is this how you treat a student the first day in your lecture by sending her out.

Shaurya and Anokhi crossed that line from the very beginning and it's kind of hard to walk that back. The formality of professor and student was thrown out. It's what allows them to see each other as something more without the stigma.

Shaurya was helpful to Anokhi with the shoes and very unhelpful otherwise. He just looked so exasperated with her. It was kind of amusing.

Anokhi also is quite stubborn, and always justifies her action. When you know someone has been hellbent in not allowing you to join sIAC, arguing to that person and trying to make him see reason is a waste of time. She even dared tell Shaurya he could continue with his lecture, like she is doing him a favour. It is the last drop that reverts Shaurya to form and makes him take action in the name of discipline. But this does not stop our jugni from taking notes from outside and , On top of that she finally tells him off by saying he should not be treatingx her as such.

Anokhi has a lot of self respect and self confidence. She doesn't check the time or place before displaying it. She's wrong in this instance since it's a school setting and discipline matters. But with her history she's not okay with anyone patronizing her.

Side note:

Reema has already warned Anokhi about the VIP gang meaning ragging is not something new.

I liked the saree Gaytri was wearing, it was really lovely.

Shaan looks up towarsd Aastha and Gaytri and Kanchan admires Aastha from far and wish they could have the same courage. This is a lot of openings for S2.

I loved what Gayatri said about learning from watching Aastha but not having enough courage to act. These two women deserved to find their spine and happiness!

Shaan is after all the father and even if he hasn’t contributed in Shaurya’s bringing up, who else can see through the pain and hurt he was hiding under the pretence of moving on?( or has the small help he offered the mother son duo make him to look at things in a different light?)And his kind hearted nature which he inherits from his parents? Shaurya Sabherwal the tough person he seems to be can’t help but go soft when he sees a person in need. He tweaks his words in such a way as to not reveal his true intention of his concern towards his student, however Shaan can sense it.

After all the mess that Anokhi is in because of her broken sandal, Shaurya becomes an indirect saviour through Shaan. I always enjoy these light hearted conversations with the not so important characters which ease the situation not only for the characters but also for us as audience. Anokhi is all happy that everything has been taken care of and Ravi’s gripe about Anokhi causing trouble is cute and sweet,

The rich spoilt brats continue their evil plans to trouble Anokhi. I think these two sisters have gone completely after their father without a trace of their mother’s goodness.

Shaurya Sabherwal is quick to notice that she has an argument for every situation. I like how she doesn’t shy away from voicing her thoughts out. When she is introduced as the topper from Kapurthala and she says back that it doesn’t make any difference to her and wants to focus on her future he stays quiet. I wonder if it is because he is in agreement with her? I don’t think anyone till now dared to voice out their thoughts in front of Ss. I think this very nature of hers made him open up later on and realise his true self.

Anokhi lecturing in every possible situation is irritating at times that too when the person is your professor. But again when I think of it, one of the reasons is that it is her character trait which has been consistent from start till the end and also I think Ss‘s behaviour towards her during her admission left her with a feeling that all men are the same and she has to fight and argue yo make her point and have a chance in this male dominated society.

Whatever the reason and even though I appreciate this nature it sometimes feels overboard. But I feel this very nature of hersade him realiseand open up and realise his trueself later on.

Anokhi never left a situation to itself. She always makes her point irrespective of how stubborn the other person is. This is the nature that made Shaurya open up later and fall for her.

@bold: I like this quality about Anokhi. I know it annoys some viewers that she's always defensive and always looking to fight. But I like that she's assertive and feels the need to always make her point. And you're right, it's that unique quality that Shaurya fell for and I fully approve of a man that can fall for a strong woman!

This episode was a set up for future ShaKhi interactions:

1. Shaurya in his own way is looking out for Anokhi, but not getting the credit. Knowing Anokhi is without footwear, Shaurya informs Shaan of her dilemma. Shaan corrects it with the help of Ravi. Ravi credits Shaan so obviously Anokhi does too. Again, everyone is a credit chor. And Anokhi's mind isn't willing to credit Shaurya for good deeds. Instead of thinking that maybe Shaurya told Shaan since he witnessed the shoe breaking, she immediately assumes Shaan must have just seen her and helped her. I'm not saying she's wrong, it's just interesting.

I love that you mention this. Shaurya is not credited ( in other’s Anokhi’s eyes) for most of the things he does. Psst .. stopped Vineet/Raja from finding Anokhi, the Riots, flowers at the restaurant 😁, fights with BM/BP for Anokhi.. most of them went unnoticed by the “stupid girl” 😂 The root of “ ek galat baat kahoon toh 4 baar suna deti ho..” starts from here.😁

Anokhi’s jugaad with jootelalji is cute. I always said that Ravi and Makkhan are the true underdogs of the show. How I wish they had a wider role to play in the SHAKHI love story. ❤️

2. Shaurya's facade! Shaan mentions Shaurya's inability to voice his feelings, "Jo kuch bhi tumhare mann me hai na, kabhi tum usse zahir nahi hone dete". In the future, post rustication, Shaurya also admits his inability to voice his feelings to Anokhi and sometimes people just have to understand him. Shaurya doesn't share because he thinks it doesn't matter to anyone. This insecure feeling follows him into his relationship with Anokhi.

Mr Stoic Sabherwal was always good at sweeping his feelings under the rug. These scenes help us connect with his character throughout the show. As an audience only we are privy to his true nature, thoughts and actions. The writers kept his insecure feeling consistent up till the end of the show where he doesn’t even reveal to Anokhi that he in fact called Ahir to investigate the Alokgate scandal

3. "Mere Shaurya bhaiyya sirf ek pari ke kismat main likha hai" Bebo says this as Shakhi's kismat collide! This was in response to Shaurya Sabherwal's college fangirls thirsting over him "Physics, Chemistry, Maths sab padh sakti hoon, agar Shaurya sir padhaye to". I like when this comes back again during their haldi phone call. Anokhi is aware that girls drool over Shaurya. One comment that was interesting was when one girl says "if only he wasn't our teacher", so the taboo of professor and student not crossing the line is mentioned in passing, but never really explored in the show.

@bold
Ooh I totally missed that. Interesting observation Anju.

4. Between Anokhi coming to class late and then talking in class, Shaurya has formed an opinion of Anokhi as a person. A rule breaker. Someone who ignores the carefully crafted prospectus of his precious institution. He also tells her she makes excuses for her behavior, then complains, then takes someone's help. These are the seeds of the anger and jealousy laced future tirade that happens in the library.

5. Shaurya kicked Anokhi out of class for the first time, with a simple "get out!". Shaurya hates being ignored in his fiefdom. It's interesting that he let the sleeping student stay, but the one who talked in his class and ignored him gets kicked out. I think it's because the guy was quick to apologize. Anokhi on the other hand felt the need to make Shaurya understand. Shaurya was very curt, but also correct in saying "Apni galti ko maana seekho". I don't know if Anokhi ever really learned that lesson.

Shaurya Unbiased Sabherwal only saw Anokhi as Aastha’s stubborn apprentice. Hehe he was so helpful to other students , forgiving the girl who came to the class late , going easy on the guy who slept during his lecture, but when Anokhi Bhashan Bhalla talked in the class he lost his cool 🙄😎😁

Side note:

~ Reema and Anokhi's friendship begins!! I love a healthy female friendship, full of support and devoid of jealousy!

YASS! 🙌🙌 I love the feeling of mutual love that sisterhoods and brotherhoods bring out, genuine praise minus the jealousy and bitching.

~ I admire Anokhi's commitment to her education. Standing outside the class and taking notes FTW!!

😁🤩🙌🙌 Anju.. that’s your idea student right there!

~ Kanchan is such a Aastha fan! I can't stand that Shaan said Aastha was a woman of 'great character' and that she had principles and never did anything wrong. They royally ignore her worst mistake in life! Where Shaurya is concerned, she chose wrong! It's a whitewashing of her character to ignore that flaw.

😂😂 Shaan praising Aastha like nothing bad ever happened in their marriage. Sabke sab kaamchor nikle when it came to the matter of raising their only child! 🙄🤪

Life's been a little hectic. I try to watch the episode and write a small review everyday, but I've been bad at replying. So sorry about that!! I'll get better once the weekend rolls around........I think!😛

❤️❤️

Great review Anju! I’m in all colors 😀

So true. All small scenes but they felt so real.

Ravi toh bechara Anokhi se pareshan ho gaya🤣

Shaurya always had some feelings for Anokhi. Something he never realised.

In SIAC Shaurya would resign as lecturer, but usually a Prof need to declare interest and not be involved in any academic activity with the person concerned. In fact this conflict of interest is also for close relatives. In Mauritius I would not be allowed to be the prof of a module being taken by my niece, nephew, anyone closely related to me.

Same here, end of academic year and exam scripts to mark, boards of examiners, preparing new lectures... festivals coming one after the other...

In the US it's not condemned, but very looked down upon because of the power dynamic. Especially if it's a professor that teaches you directly. There is no fraternization that's allowed that might be construed as sexual harassments and create a hostile environment. It makes sense that you wouldn't be allowed to teach your own family member; to avoid favoritism.

It's funny that your semester is ending. My year just began. Fall semester is September to December; Spring semester is January to April. I also teach Summer semester May to August! It feels never ending sometimes!
