can anyone enlighten me as to why kissing in indian films is absolutely taboo (i read its coz it corrupts indian youth) yet the women wear next to nothing (although they have fab bodies) and in the soaps men constantly hit the women around the face! also .... watched an episode of Koffee with Karan and first week kareena kapoor was on with her then boyfriend speaking of their love then the week after was saif ali khan with his sister speaking of his love for his girlfriend rosa and how he wished he could have ended things better with his wife. my question.... this show is not yet a year old yet how come they've both split up with their partners and kareena and saif are now married? blimey they worked fast!!! if kissing is taboo in films (loved hrithiks kiss in dhoom 2 - ashwarya was emotionless and spoilt it) then why are the actors like rabbits in their personal life? i'm really shocked and just wondered if because i've only been into bollywood for the last 2 years there's summit i just don't know!

The actors don't exactly live their lives as to what is shown on screen. The majority of bollywood films have never been realistic, it's just all fantasy. Just because a particular actress is portrayed on screen to be innocent and virginal, does not necessarily mean she is in real life...just because an actor is shown as an alcoholic or drug addict does not mean he is in real life.

As for kissing....India is a country where public displays of affection are not seen in a good way, for many it is embarassing. Bollywood films back in the day were made for the whole family to watch, which is way the makers came up with the whole flower appearing as it leaves things to your immagination lol

Recently, the industry has been trying to break the mold and become more 'western'. However, unfortunately alot of these so-called bold scenes are just simply cheap, tacky and rather uncomfortable to watch with family. But as you pointed out the most bizzare thing is the skin show and how the censor board agree to it.....i guess they just want to keep the front seaters/pervs sweet since it brings the money in 🤢

yeh most of these bold scenes are tacky and pointless rather than fit into the film i just avoid those films apart from dhoom that was none of the above but thats a exception..as for their personal life i have alway said its a mess god knows why because evey persons been given sense and surely been given a proper upbringing to know whats right and wrong..not just spliting up its how fast they move on and also amount of women who have been with married men or in a midst of a divorce men are at fault as well but its a bit pathetic amrita is the only actor who i can think of thats closest personal life to one she plays on screen

In regards to how fast they move on, that is something which happens in every entertainment industry and often in real life i guess.

The problem for these celebs is actually meeting someone who doesn't want to be with them just for their money. It's difficult for them to find someone else on the same wave length who understands their work and all the media hell they go through. Hence, they are left with people who work in the same industry and often in same films. After all co-stars spend so much time together whilst working on a film, and on top of that they have to act out emotional and sometimes intimate love scenes....so sparks are set to fly!

Yeh i can understand a few people moving on but just two examples not sure how accurate they are one is adi and rani other saif - kareena they were both together like a few days after they split with their partners even divorced then all other couples that have split etc people still dont all move on that quickly like ash as well she was with someone one after another practically guess its just entertainment industry..i can understand the co-star bit though but i just do not think it shows alot of respect for their relationship especially long term one i guess they dont take them seriously 😕

^^^With the examples that you have given, i think you have to remember that the stars relationships and when they move on to another does not fall in line when the media publish the news.

To be honest im not so sure about Adi-Rani and whether they are together or not, but Kareena-Shahid definately split before Saif came on the scene....we as the public just received the news at a later stage.

For example, it was recently reported that Salman Khans sister Arpita is dating a guy called Yash. However, they actually got together over 6 months ago....the media just found out later.

i realise they are acting and its not their real lives on screen but i can't understand the contradiction of no kissing on the screen yet their private lives are raunchier than us brits!!! surely the whole point of their acting is to show people that love grows or you can have love at first sight. surely these same fans buy or read articles about them and then when you see that they are all bed-hopping its rather contradictory. in the uk we love the soap characters for being THOSE soap characters and 99% of the time when they leave the soaps to do "other things" their careers nose dive coz we only wanna c them as that soap character - surely the bollywood stars popularity must take a tumble when on screen they are saying save yourself for marriage for the right person yet outside of their jobs they do the exact opposite!

Y but it takes all sorts to make a world. Some like Hrithik Roshan had just woman in his life whom he later married and he has a clean image throughout. So have Srk, Akshay (I mean he may have dated many girls but once he got married he stayed put) and a lot of other stars.
Saif and Kareena may have been more controversial, but compare with say Britney's life they are nothing.

As for skin show, you have to realize diff ommunities in India have different dress codes. Gujarati backless cholis may seem v daring to some, but are normal in that state. many women in Bengal don't wear blouses at all with their sarees and so forth. So it would be very difficult for a censor to rule what is aceptable and what is not , but sensual scenes an be controled

BTW I loved that observation about Aish being relatively emotionless in D2, I never thought about it but I see u r right

I think alot of the diehard loyal fans tend to ignore any dirt that appears on their favourite star, i mean alot of people do believe that what they see on screen or read in an interview is true! Even though most of the time it is all PR. No star is exactly going to highlight their bad characteristics in an interview as they all want the clean image.

They all have skeletons in their wardrobes, so when they appear they are either ignored by the fans, or the media is paid off before it's even reported.

The Indian film industry is actually quite sleazy, it's ok for those with the right connections but for others they have to think of other ways to get to the top i.e the casting couch.

Plus the censor board may be able to control some scenes in a film, but they can not control what the media writes!

its funny coz of all your replies! i just thought that indian morals were up there with Jane Austen!! (no kissing etc until you ARE married!) to think of sleaze and bollywood it just doesn't go!! i've started watching koffee with karan and i love the way all the stars answer him anything! when you see our stars in interviews you always hear that the reporters aren't allowed to ask personal questions about their lives and just stick to the film - funniest thing i heard was when tom cruise was making a film he had it written in the extras contracts that they weren't even allowed to make eye contact! (azzhole!!!!!) all your stars come across as lovely warm people but i'm still shocked at them off the screen!!! - it sorta breaks the illusion doesn't it?
