Comparisons of BALH2 with BALH1 is inevitable but unnecessary

I think there has been unnecessary but inevitable comparisons of this show with its first season but if the name of the show would not have been this and Ekta would have launched this show in another name then there would have been no issues with BALH1 fans and tv watchers in general being skeptical about this show.

If we talk about the story of this season, I think you will agree that apart from the character names Ram and Priya nothing else is same with the show. Now regarding the other plotlines being taken from season 1 if one sees thoughtfully, one must have seen similar tropes like, opposite characters falling in love, step family of lead mistreating him, lead's father or mother remarrying and abandoning the lead, drama of the exes and step siblings in other ITV or EK dramas as well so this is not strictly restricted to BALH1.

It has been said that there are around 4-5 classic stories in the world that are being remade again and again but with different execution style. When BALH1 aired, nobody has done the mature love story ever and EK was known for the OTT dramas in this medium hence BALH1 was a big hit that too for a long time due to it's different concept and execution for the time and chemistry between Ram and Sakshi. I think this season is more about the opposite people falling in love who come from different social strata than about mature love. I think here the mature love will be shown through the mature personalities and not due to the age group.

There also has been unnecessary comparison of Nakul and Disha with Ram and Sakshi respectively which is just unfair as Ram and Sakshi have lot more experienced than Nakul and Disha. Another thing is that their characters are not same at all and neither are their age groups so it makes no sense at all to compare them just becoz this show is named BALH2.

I understand that people who have watched this show it will be natural for them to compare and discuss it with the first season and that is completely alright to do so but it is unfair to not give a chance to this show and write it off completely on the basis of comparison with first season.

I feel there should be one thread specifically dedicated to S1 discussions to avoid this. Might resolve the situation? What do you think?

Makes sense ..since for remakes usually they try and have a thread were original can be discussed

Even if the 2 seasons r very different and has its own charm.

Comparisons tends to happen, comparision on going shows se bhi hote toh 1st season se toh hoga he.

Yes we can make 1 thread on it to avoid all this.

I just don't care abt comparisons & just focus on the show. I love both seasons and will agree to the fact that S1 was iconic and it will always remain and S2 is also beautiful❤

Agree with it. This is a fresh show and comparison takes the fun out while watching the show.

just to give a different view -- comparisons are inevitable but that is because of the producers. they could have chosen to rename the show to something else. they could have chosen to rename the characters. surely, there are plenty of names in dictionary. why choose ram and priya? because they wanted the viewers who loved season 1 to tune back in. they are the ones who stated it is a remake of the original. so if viewers are comparing, then it is because of the producers. they could have chosen to simply lift parts of the story and informed that the show is an inspired version of the old one. if they had even given it a different name, then people wouldn't be doing a direct comparison and saying if it falls short or not...

I saw both s1 n s2 and i personally feel both seasons r good in their own ways

s2 has similarities with s1, also there is some differences too

so i wont say its completely same

i m liking s2 for now(its kinda unfair how some wont watch it just cause the cast is different)

and also this kind of story, this generation ppl would like it(its not copy paste of s1 entirely)

i feel this show deserves a chance

i like how both ram n priya's characterization has been done this season

both nakuul and disha played the role convincingly so far

i would also add it was a smart move by ekta to retain another popular itv couple for this season(even if some raya fans wont watch this season, at least some adi-pankhuri fans will watch it, before adi-pankhuri another popular itv couple, ishita-raman was approached for this show)

I have been a huge fan of S1 but I must say that S2 is lovely...

I am enjoying it so much... Ram and Sakshi were amazing and so are Nakul and Disha
