The possible reasons why Shivina lied about Ram forcing her to marry

Well in the last episode Shivina clearly mentions to Priya that she is being forced to marry Vedika's brother in law (sorry I don't remember his name) which was quite irksome as the opposite is the truth as if Ram gets to know that Shivina does not want to get married here and she loves Akshay then he would himself stop this wedding but seeing Shivina it did not seem like she is a negative character at least yet. I think she really believed when she said to Priya that Ram is forcing her marry and I think the main reason is Nandini.

Looking at yesterday's episode, the way Nandini shuts down Shivina's protest to not get married its pretty indicative that she wants her daughter to be married in that house maybe becoz they are rich so even though its not shown to us the circumstances in which she has agreed to marry inspite of loving Akshay, but Nandini has definitely reinforced in her that Ram wants this marriage to take place either for business reasons or for his promise to Vedika (which is partially true as he did promise Vedika in the beginning of the 1st episode which I assume is this only but yet to see if there are any other promises as well) but actually it is Nandini who seems to want the marriage most but not sure why becoz I am sure if its about money then Shivina can get many proposals from richer families or maybe she know about Akshay.

So I think when she said this to Priya it was not due to any ulterior motive or to malign Ram but she actually believes this.

I hope this is the case. Ram needs a few more positive members in his family. They way she was talking to him during the date thing was sweet but she didn't mention him in her speech so idk. Can anyone who has seen s1 clarify whether Natasha genuinely cared about ram?

Season 1 Natasha didn’t care for Ram and was brat initially later on she changed and became positive

Shivi said that Ram is forcing her to get married to this guy because he thinks he knows everything, when all she had to do was talk to him in private.

On the other hand, when Shivi's fiancé thanked Ram for giving him a second chance after the gym fiasco, he said it is because Shivina wants it. He could have also spoken privately to Shivi to find out what was the truth instead of believing it was wedding jitters like her mother said.

I know the story needs to go in that direction, but a slightly tighter script would help make the characters look stronger.

I don't think Shivina deliberately said this to Priya. The point is she was not getting any support from her family that is her mother and other brothers. The only person she knows will support her is Ram but her mother has convinced her that this is what Ram wants. Plus Shivina as explained in today's episode to Ram that even Akshay is not giving her any support as he says he is not ready for her. So she must have thought that by saying all this she can get Akshay to marry her and she would be out of this mess. She knows Akshay listens to Priya and Priya if not anything was supportive to her and Akshays relationship.

I think you are absolutely correct regarding the creation of this track that Shivina is unable to tell that she does not want to marry her fiance just to create more conflict which can lead to PriRa's wedding otherwise even if Shivina thinks that Ram thinks he knows it all, she should talk to Ram directly if she doesn't want to marry her fiance and then she can blame Ram but Ram have no idea that she doesn't want to get married to her fiance. Why is she relying on her mother?? No clue we have to wait and watch.

We have not been told under what circumstances she said yes to marriage nor do I think they will show that to us. But yes, seems like Shivina and Ram were communicating through their mother which caused the whole confusion. Shivi thought that mom and bhaiya are in one team (may be because of Ram's promise and Nandini's choice) and Ram thought that Shivi and mom are positive about the marriage. Today they talked and things got cleared. Since he holds the power to take or revert the final decision, the blame also fell on his shoulder. :) I won't call her sly as of now, but it was trivial of her to put the entire blame on Ram without acknowledging her mother's role.
