I think it is totally different for us (90s kids) and todays generation. We have seen the life before this digital boom and SM. So we are kind of immigrants to the digital world but new generation is native to this SM and digital world. For them it is the reality. On surface I used to also think that on SM it is fake, but is it? When I think of it deeply, I come to think of what is the definition of reality? It is not that I fake it but inhenretly I beheve differently with differrent people. But who is real me? I think every aspect is just one layer of your reality. My IF personality as anonymous is not fake, it is still a part of me. I do not discuss ITV shows and this ParaKshita shipping with my real life😆 This exists only on SM but I wont call it fake. In a same way SM is just one layer of reality for today's generation.

Things have changed. I strongly think we will go all digital and virtual in a decade or so. Covid has expedited the process.

I agree with you and your analysis is spot on..this is true for some section of SM ..I am okay with it if someone reacts strongly on political topics as it affects everyone’s lives or something they are attached to but some people are plain abusive n go on personal attacks with in seconds n they make it their aim of life to target that person

And there are another section of people.. they just blame n react without even thinking rationally .. may be just because they like the idea of it..how foolish is it to target Karan Johar because kangana said he is flag bearer of nepotism.. that’s not relevant or personal to 99.99% of the population.. there may be few thousands of people who are trying for movie opportunities.. nepotism is everywhere in the world why target him

I agree with you ladies about SM ... And I think we are a rare generation connecting the bridge between the new and The yester.

Actually I think one issue is the speed at which social media has advanced and you have many ppl who are not educated or equipped to handle the information overload.

I too have commented or written online about topics I feel strongly about - but I have not ridiculed another point of view. Actually if I feel a certain person is offensive in arguments - after 2 strikes I block or ignore depending on... it has happened to a few ppl who I’ve known since university days. This has only risen with Trump’s era of “free pass at saying it how it is and all”... I’m sorry but being honest and up front is one thing but to do it at the expense of offending or ridiculing a religion / race / ethnicity / sexuality is not right.

Oh and I am the same - I have different shades around different ppl - all shades are part of real me but I dont find it necessary for that person to see or know me beyond that particular side. I think very few ppl know the real you or rather all aspects of you.

@bold: this is the saddest part n angers me most… people just react on their pre-conceived notions when it comes to these topics..they just go against the person who is posting rather than what he is trying to say especially with respect to religion n race

There are many things about the old and new generation I disagree with but I don’t ridicule or belittle them. Case in point my friend knows this family comprising of A mom In 50s and 2 daughters aged 19-24.... the daughters are anti-vaccine , anti-covid (hoax theory)... they flipped a lid when their mom got vaccinated and cut off all ties with her because she didn’t listen to their theories lol.🤪🤪

We get the European or middle eastern ones -Cadbury / galaxy / nestle in stores here in the ethnic aisle. Regular made in Canada is in normal candy aisle.
