Just like Tanmay Bhatt posted silly things on his snapchat for Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar.. people took it to the streets burning his effigies.

Also people need to show some tolerance also.

The things is now, people don't take these trends seriously. It defeats the purpose of these hashtags.

Now everyone takes Metoo movement also with a grain of salt (Mahima Kukreja was the one who started this in India and came out that she was lying)

How does it show intolerance? Plenty of people essentially "boycott" various businesses for various different reasons all the time, just without using that specific word.

I remember some time back there was some controversy regarding a certain American fast food chain's owners making homophobic comments, so many members of the LGBT community and some other liberals there decided to stop spending their money on that business... would you say that's "intolerant" too?

How I see it, this is really a case of your rights ending where others' begin. People have every right to boycott and urge others to boycott things they don't like. Whether or not others join is again their choice, but as long as there is no serious threat to the safety of anyone involved, people boycotting and asking others to boycott things are doing nothing wrong, in whichever context.

@bold.. seriously.. in that case there is no need for law, rules and regulations.. people can just do what they like😆

Spread misinformation and hatred.

The word "boycott" has lost its significance and turned into a joke. No one in India really boycotts anything. This is just time pass for people online. 😆

I am sorry but your type of 100% Politically correct culture is not possible. Never.

Most of the time people mean well but they don’t speak well. You can’t be offended at each and everyone not speaking PC culture language.

This type of being “woke” is impractical and super toxic.

Social media has become too toxic these days.

Terms like menstruators and birthing persons are not for transwomen alone. It is for all transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people. The rationale behind that is that transmen, non-binary, and other people who do not identify as women do menstruate or give birth.

That being said those terms are common only in very niche groups and have not entered colloquial vernacular or government vernacular. Birth certificates still say mother and father and marriage certificates still say husband and wife, and even same-sex parents actually have to file an official request to change it mother-mother/husband-husband et al.

I live in a very liberal city and was pretty regular with some queer groups before the pandemic. I constantly use terms like "you guys" that some people deem non-inclusive and it's fine. The only thing people care about is that you use the preferred pronouns and names and treat everyone with respect. Honestly, no one in my circle uses words like menstruators or birthing persons - not even the transfolk I know. No one is tripping up to find a gender-neutral term for everything.

Sadly, people only see the instances where people make a big deal out of everything and not the chill laidback people who just want to live and let live. Most of the time it's a cishet person who wants attention and followers. It doesn't do much and honestly, makes even trans-inclusive people upset about trans rights.

The most recent budget proposal called mothers birthing persons.

OFFICIAL GOVERNMEMT DOCUMENT! Imagine that!

And no, not a conservative invention though it seems like satire. That's how far gone the wokeratti are.

I don't think the links you posted completely contradict what I said.

Walmart never told its employees not to say Merry Christmas and till today employees have their discretion. Snopes just says it's true that a Christian group boycotted Walmart (for nothing really).

I was unaware of the Target case. But again it's mixed. Target never instructed anyone. And I think the inclusion of Christmas was a temporary reversal. Target is one of the most progressive stores that has faced many boycotts over the years.

It is true that places are sued for Christmas trees all the time and the lawsuits go either way. But in general, it hasn't impacted how Christmas has always been.

This above is wordplay. A version of depends what the "meaning of is is."

Point is Christmas being squeezed out (if that's the word you prefer) of the holidays was a thing back then.

Much as the left would like imagine this didn't happen, it did.

Huh?

No offence but I think you need to read my comments again, I clearly said that this is all ok only as long as it stays within the limits of the law and no one's safety is threatened...

And as far as I can see the producers, actors etc. involved with this show are all fine lol.

No "misinformation" has been spread here either, concerns about the content of this show are all based in facts relating to the real people depicted in it, and the whitewashing of their crimes.

No one would be accusing those criticising a show depicting British Raj in a positive light of "spreading hatred" either (even within the U.K. today, let alone in India where the chances of such a show even getting conceptualised in the first place are about -100%) so why does that phrase keep coming up when it comes to discussing certain other events in our history?

And again if no one actually boycotts anything, why is asking for boycotts such a problem?

Silly choice. At the very least they could have said "mothers and other birthing persons" if they wanted to be inclusive. Not all women want to be known as birthers or menstruators.

Fortunately, bills and proposals are temporary. There's no way any bill will become an official law with words like that.
