Inspector Virat Chavan was getting nervous. When ACP ma'm was not satisfied, she broke loose - like a volcano. He shifted his feet as drops of sweat beaded over his forehead.
ACP Sai Joshi was giving orders to a few inspectors. "I don't want any lapse in security, is that clear? This is a high profile gathering and there is no room for error". Now, let's see who this Amol Gupta is, she thought. He was owner of Homeneeds, the largest retail chain in India and he was throwing a party at his home. "Rich people", scoffed Sai.
The guests were chatting and laughing. Virat observed a young girl moving about the crowd serving samosas and jalebis. She was very fair, slim, petite....and beautiful. She was wearing an old saree that was clearly torn and had been darned. As she was serving the snacks one lady called her "Hey girl...." . But the girl did not hear her. The woman tried again "Hey girl...hey torn saree". The girl turned immediately. It was evident to Virat's discerning eye, that the girl was embarrassed, ashamed. Yet she refilled the guest's plate with a smile and carried herself with dignity. Virat was impressed....and smitten.
Business magnate and CEO of Homeneeds, Mr. Amol Gupta was sitting in the dias. Sai noticed that he was about 30 and devilishly handsome. He had rugged beard, chiseled face with eyes....his eyes were fire. Sai looked away ashamed and was greeted by a constable with a message from Inspector Virat Chavan.
Much to Virat's delight, the serving girl was coming towards Virat. She came to him and quietly, with trepidation handed him a small note. Virat took the paper, amused, but when he read the piece of paper, he was shocked. He gave orders to Constable Madhesh to deliver the message immediately to ACP Sai Joshi. As he finished giving the order, he saw the serving girl about to faint. Before she could fall, Virat held her in his arms. He gently seated her in the chair and brought a glass of water to her lips. As soon as water touched her lips, she stirred. The girl opened her eyes slowly and looked into a pair of browm eyes so gentle, so soft, so full of love. And she knew she had found her soulmate.

ACP Sai suddenly walked up to the stage and pulled her gun at the VIP sitting on the dias....at Mr. Amol Gupta. His initial shock gave way to rage.
"What the...." he exclaimed seething between his teeth.
He quietly stood up and walked arrogantly towards Sai. "Do you know what you are doing?" he yelled.
"Yes, I've figured out that you are an imposter, so you can spare your drama" Sai shot back.
Amol or whoever it was looked straight at Sai's eyes....wild, untamed, intelligent and something more....yes fire. He could fight, but he didn't want to. He had met his match....in temperament, intelligence and pizzaz.

Sai held LG...for LG was his name, with his hands pinned to the wall. Her face was very close to his face and she could feel his breath through his mocking smile. Why was she so fascinated by this criminal? She had always wanted to be the one to arrest him...to meet him. His guile, his wildness and his swag was legendary among the Delhi Police. She had always noted the similarity she shared with this mysterious outlaw - both of them insolent and unapologetic rebels. Somehow, Sai Joshi was getting pulled by this man. If looks could kill, she was just being murdered.
LG bore into her eyes and gave a wicked smile. He knew he was a lion - and lions don't mate with sheep. A lion only mates with its equal. And Sai Joshi was one hell of a tigress.
"Tell me the location of the bomb" Sai demanded. LG laughed.
"I have a proposition for you", he said. Sai looked at him suspiciously.
LG's smile straightened and he said with authority "Tumhe mujhse shaadi karni padegi. Abhi. Woh bhi sirf 6 mahine ke liye".
"If you don't, this entire place will explode within 5 minutes".
Sai could not believe what she was hearing. "What?", Sai exclaimed
"You heard me. Now decide. Yes or No?", he asked menacingly
Sai thought of all the people trapped in the building awaiting possible death.
"Fine, then my answer is yes. But remember - Humaari shaadi ek deal hai, sirf ek deal".
The pact was made. LG diffused the bomb through remote control.
As soon as the danger was gone, Sai made a quick move to nab him. But he was already anticipating such a move from Sai, and quick as a cat he escaped out of the fire exit.
For four hours, the police followed him, but he was too cunning in making his escape.

ACP Sai Joshi looked at Virat sternly.
"Inspector Virat, I'm very disappointed."
"What is the perennial issue you have of always speaking in jalebis?", Sai roared.
"You were the only one who saw LG stealthily turn left. We were driving straight...and you shouted NOT TO DRIVE STRAIGHT"
"For God's sake you should have shouted TO TURN LEFT".
"In this delay, we missed the turning and went too far ahead. And LG escaped".
Virat was fumbling for words
"LG is short for Laad Governor. He is the most notorious criminal in Delhi", Sai fumed
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Virat was dejected. He recalled the poem he had read long ago - which was about how, for the want of a horse shoe, the kingdom was lost. He sighed. His inability to talk straight had cost them an important criminal.
The serving girl tiptoed towards him quietly. Virat looked up to see her smiling. She told him that her name was Khushi. She also confessed how she fell in love with him the moment she met him. Virat was over the moon.
Soon, Khushi and Virat were in each other's arms.
"I wanted to express my feelings but before that you confessed", Virat said grinning.
"Mujhe pata that aap se nahi ho payega", Khushi laughed
"Main aapko dekh ke pehchaan gayi thi, ki seedhi baat bolna aapke bas ki baat nahin hai. Koi nahi. Aap tedhe hain, par mere hain, Mr. KJ", Khushi said looking deep into Virat's eyes.
"KJ?", Virat asked amused.
"Kamzor Jasoos", she said endearingly. Virat smiled.
Virat and Khushi came close and kissed.

Sai Joshi was worried. She had not honoured the pact by chasing after LG. And LG was a ruthless man. She had heard enough about him to know that he would exact a price for the broken deal. And Sai was determined not to let any innocent come to harm because of her.
Yes, I must protect innocents at all cost, even if it means marriage to the devil himself, she decided.

6 months later, Khushi Kumari Gupta and Virat Chavan got married in a simple ceremony. Virat resigned from the Police force and decided to start afresh. They rented a small place - and started a sweet stall. Khushi named it KKGVC Mishthaan Bhandaar. Both Khushi and Virat managed to make the sweets all by themselves. People loved the place and soon enough entire Delhi was a fan. The main attraction of the shop was their wonderful jalebis. It was said that the aroma and flavour of the jalebis was so powerful and so sweet that people living 5km away could smell it. This isn't to be doubted my dear readers, because it was made by the beloved man himself.
Sai Joshi and Laad Governor, aka Arnav Singh Raizada became arch nemesis. What happened in their 6-month deal marriage, no one knew. But the wind did whisper that two passionate monsters cannot be caged. š
There was always a cat and mouse game going on - Sai manged to nab him, but he always found ways to escape. But strangely, each found the other irresistible. They enjoyed this challenging game of one upmanship. And each tried to outdo the other. If one was fire, the other became an inferno, if one became an inferno, the other became a volcano - it was a dance of the fires.
