I agree with u ketty84 there are still people who walk down that self sacrificing track in real life. There is a difference between being literate and educated. In Marathi we say that susaunkrut ani swaakshari asnyat pharak aahe. Ek samajdaar insaan padha lika Ho sakta hain par yeh jaruri nahi ki haar padha likha insaan samajdaar ho. Samajdaari aur Padhai likahai ka koi connection nahi.

I'm just saying because I myself, a nurse, I'm 33 and single and I take care of my elderly parents they are late 70's .. we are also jatt Sikh and from Punjab..

even though I came to Canada at the age 6, I'm 100% connected to my roots back in Punjab..

I get comments and frowned on my single status from aunties in the city regularly

so does my fam

but my parents put them down as they know I would never settle or compromise just for the sake of getting married

my cousin back home in Punjab had a intercaste love marriage which are highly frowned in our culture.. even today

the whole village was unhappy

family wasn't happy either

but no one asked or was expecting her to sacrifice love for families honour

I think they low key knew asking her to sacrifice was pointless, as she was independent, had a great job and if it didn't work she would not be a burden on them, so there was nothing that could've stopped her

why I said education is because when your independent, you can make your own decisions easily, don't have to rely on family or a husband

Tejo family always brought up Tejo like ur our best daughter. You have to be always a good girl. They made her over responsible even responsible for things not related to her life. They gave liberties to Jesso like no parents ever do as she is their canada ticket. Family loves you but they can't be selfish who said. Tejo even educated but she is so attached to her selfish family gave role to her in life protector of family. Only some shock from her family side can cure her over good girl attitude. Make her see she is not obliged to love her selfish sister or family and she is also important for her let's see what makers want to show ।

You cannot root for any of the leads. They are all annoying and stupid 😆 Badly written characters.

They are not even grey/ have shades or flawed.

But in reality nowadays which highly educated girl like Tejo sacrifices for the family or gets married on the name of honour.

exactly…the ways marriages happen on itv serials don’t happen like that in real life anymore or maybe not where I come from and in many other countries around the world. We don’t have arranged marriages anymore when I live…arranged marriages stopped about 40 Years ago…ok..there may be the odd one..but most marriages happen now with men and women choosing their own life partner… it’s probably because as girls are all encouraged to study and pursued careers..they are also meeting their life partners at work or in college etc…Also now that women are Educated and have careers they want to choose their own husband ..🤷🏻‍♀️
