Without allowing the company to take actions, they have already assumed that nothing could be done in this matter and hence they have taken law in their hands. I Don't have any experience in this matter in my office (thank God), that's why I don't know how actually the actions are taken. But we do have anti ragging and anti harrasing committee, also every week our HR and management discuss the problems we have in the company, we as in ladies. So yes in MNCs there is a proper way to file these harrasment actions.! I don't know if I am talking sense or not.?

Thanks for sharing your experience. Exactly, it should been laid out from first day of hiring/interview phase that they have zero tolerance policy against harassment, especially for new hires. We also have meetings & communication through all colleagues to get any harrassment based cases or any sort of ill-reported behavior on a weekly basis here too.

Yeah, I figured that too that it is futile to take an action & they started with protest against the company. It just looks like an assumption that the company, HR peop;e/management are lazy or fearful in these matters due to Dholakia. Thus, protest against the company.😆

Its very sensitive issue and often mishandled by the internal committee and if not handled properly then it becomes complicated. Problem is most of the women employees are not aware of their rights and sometimes it becomes difficult to explain.

It happened with me also in my office, Initially I was clueless because everything was happening indirectly and I have no idea whom to approach. My boss was quite smart in manipulation and seniors were backing him up. He scared the hell out of me. Then I gathered strength and reported to higher authority , even after director's warning he did not stop harassing me and retaliated , conspired against me started making false allegation on me and my collogues (who were working under him) testified against me . I had to defend three inquiry committees and finally i got transferred to another section .

But sad point is higher officials did not take stringent action against him but he came under scrutiny.

India has all the laws but problem is absence of effective implementation .

This was in the start of my career and I told my bro first.

This person uses to pass dirty remarks and if I am in the cafeteria come behind and stand too close

I tried to handle it by avoiding that person since he belonged to a different team. He felt that this silent serious and quiet person will not do anything. My bro told me to confront him. I took another male team colleague who I knew from before personally along who has heard him pass this remark since that person is his team. I told him I don't appreciate this and if he does not stop I will go the committee. This warning is only due to the little kids that he has. I did keep my immediate boss in loop too.

Another time it happened at a office party the said person tried to force me to dance and was drunk. I lot my cool and pushed him away. I reported it to my immediate boss along with two other female. Another male team leader who saw the incidents supported us. He was immediately terminated since he already had some other warning which I had no clue about. But it did scare me a little enf to for a refresher self defence class

I have seen the opposite too, I was one of the witness in the case where a female teammate was obsessed with one of teh team leader. The said guy is handsome and soft-spoken. He is quite the silent type. Has come up with great difficulty and slightly hesitant with females to talk beyond work. The gal used to force h.to come for tea and lunch. Once he told her that he can't like her since he uncomfortable with all her attention and he feels uncomfortable with her gaze. I know this guy since he was my bro batchmate so he approached me to help him he told her again by calling her to a nearby cafe with me her him and another friend of his. She said she would teach him a lesson. The person also happened to live in the same floor as us and most at work were not aware. The next day she raised a official complaint that he physically harassed her in the conference room late evening previous day. At the said time we had been at the cafe. Luckily he still had the cafe bill with his name. His card showed the payment. Plus we said the cafe owner was ready to give the cctv footage of necessary. This was my first time where I realised even men can be harrassed the said guy took a lot of time to get over this

If it happened after marriage yea I would keep my husband in loop.

Thanks for sharing this experience. I liked how you explained the third scenario because males also face sexual harassment as well. At the end of the day, the intent & actions of an individual do contribute to the overall atmosphere in the office.

Specially in Mumbai locals where they can openly touch us and when asked they say, bohot bheed hai madam.! And not only in public transport, but in highly crowded market places too. It's really sick.!

Not just Mumbai or India, but it occurs outside of India too. Public transport is terribly handled in our place also & so is crowded places. That's why I take my car.

🤗

It happened everywhere , we need to stand for ourselves. Though it takes away your peace of mind, confidence, mental health , career everything but you should fight for your rights nahi to ajj se 5, 10 ya 20 saal ke baad regret rahega ki hum apne liye hi nahi kahde ho paye.

Public transport and crowded places are major harassment points. 😔

Report workplace harassment, ideally it would be the HR, but from experience they are useless. The only way to survive is to be good at politics or stay firm in your ground. Also make sure you keep a record of all the emails so later they don't say you were incompetent.

So true about public transportation.

I used to keep bunch of safety pin 🧷 on hand and I had pricked one man with my safety pin.

It was when I was travelling back to hostel from the college and Bus was full, there was no seat available so I was standing in the bus with holding upper handle to support and this 60+ man was standing near me in the bus . First he touched my hand and later he touched my waist so immediately I pricked him with safety pin 🧷😡
