Alia failed miserably at playing the feminine role in a period movie. Ranveer excelled in it.

He is not. None of Bollywood's A listers are. Most of them are average to below average, and the audience which is used to such subpar performances think they've been given actual art. Want to see actual acting? Take a look at regional cinema. Marathi, Bengali, or Malayalam.
