Aw that's so sweet! Simran has such a beautiful meaning behind it.

A Hindu family friend had named their daughter Ayesha simply because they loved the name. Oh and their second daughter is named Simran.

For people who feel oppressed or victimized by certain figures, the last thing they want is that name now being associated with something cute and sweet. Do you think Germans would accept a German celebrity naming their kid Hitler? You won't be able to say 'what's in a name' then. People would be extremely offended. When there are millions of names you can choose from, what is the need to pick certain reviled ones? It's about creating unnecessary controversies and poking people for no reason.

I also get what you’re saying but I don’t associate people with their names. I also hail from a war-stricken country and had my ancestors killed. However, for me Adolf Hitler the man is evil, not his name. I hold no importance to a name because anyone of all sorts of colour or personality can have it. If we are not given a chance to move on from history, then the whole world will continue to hold a grudge. That is not my ideal kind of world.

To emphasise how much I don’t care about names, I wanted to name my imaginary first newborn ā€˜Iblis’ only because I liked the sound of it. Of course, I got my ass swatted for wanting to name my non-existent child after Satan (🤣). My general point is, if a couple genuinely likes a name and the meaning associated with it, then who cares. So long as the intention was a genuine liking and not to spur up people’s sentiments - which in this case cannot be proven.

We need to move on from the past and live in the current world. We already have ongoing issues in the present that should be focused on, rather than causing an uproar over a man who existed 452 years ago. But that’s my opinion and everyone is welcome to their own. Thank you for listening to me. šŸ™

Yes, it is a beautiful name. My sister has to explain to everyone that she’s not from Punjab, and in fact is named after a Bollywood movie. I don’t even think my mum knows the meaning of the name šŸ˜†.

My brother was named after a Pakistani singer, because my mum found him hot. Someone stop my mum with her hormonal names please 🤣.

This is pretty common. I know a Hindu couple who named their daughter Zaara because of Veer-Zaara. šŸ˜†

I think most people are pretty sensible. People can choose whatever names they like. Nobody said anything bad about Aamir and Kiran naming their kid Azad. Even Sanjay Dutt gave his kids Muslim names (Shahraan and Iqra) because his wife is Muslim.

But Kareena and Saif are in a completely different category with their name choices. lmao

It is common in India but I’ve never seen any other Afghan named Simran 🤣. My cousin named her daughter Khushi, because she was obsessed with Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon. Thank fcuk nobody liked Kripa (KYPH) enough to name me after her. I would rather pull my intestines out and eat it 🤮

I can agree with that point. Why such heavy names for something so tiny? But then again, that reminds me of those parents that named their child after a sperm 🤣.

The funniest part of it all is that after all these controversies, Saif and Kareena don't even use the names. Taimur is called Tim and Jehangir is called Jay (Jeh) because both of them are so westernized. 🤣What was the point.

There was a pap video where the photographers were screaming "Taimur Taimur" and the little one said "It's Tim!!" 🤣

I am in agreement with you but I am also not from India so I really dunno how strongly people there associate these names with negative connotations. Around the world however, people don't care except for maybe Hitler but I am sure there are enough Adolfs out there.

You and your mom both need to be stopped. 🤣

Have you considered the name Ibreez for your nonexistent child instead? Similar sounding names but your ass won't get swatted for this one. šŸ˜†

Are you serious? LMFAO! I didn’t know Taimur was called Tim! OMFG my intensities are cringing. 🤣

India is very patriarchal and the father's religion and customs usually dominate in everything. Even with Hrithik and Sussanne, I've always found it weird and even mentioned it here that they keep releasing pictures and videos of the family following Hindu customs but nothing related to Islam even though their mother is Muslim.

Why should this kind of patriarchy be applauded? It's good that the father's customs don't dominate everything in SRK/Gauri's family.

Susanne & Hrithik have described themselves as secular. Even their marriage ceremony was mix and match.

"You marry into another religion but, what you have been born and brought up with, you have to respect that. You have to let your kids have the best of both worlds. So you kind of imbibe in them the goodness of both religions. Get the best of both the religions into them as it would be a good combination. Both religions are very beautiful and strong religions. Hrithik is also totally like this. He is also not strong and staunch when it comes to this." - Sussane

Kids at the Khan's recent EID party. They also celebrate Christmas.

I’m telling you - you’re probably Turkish with that UN of yours which I still associate with Turkey (despite your explanation). šŸ˜†

I even liked the name Ifraat but that’s the name of a demon. Why the hell do these evil things have such nice names? šŸ˜’ I like the sound of Ibreez but knowing the technologically-obsessed generation these days, his name would probably be pronounced as I-breeze.

I’m sticking to Noah and Mik-ael. My future sons are so lucky that mummy chose attractive names for them. šŸ˜ Though if I had to choose any bollywood or ITV inspired names then I like Angad and Akaash.
