I think he prods her feelings (regarding him talking to Pakhi) only after Sunny gives his gyan. Otherwise he was pretty clueless. Virat's reactions in both the post-Ladakh and post-poolside drama confuses me. I don't understand what he made of Sai's questions?
To be completely honest, I don't think that Virat made anything of Sai's questions during either one of the fights that you have mentioned. Both Sai and Virat were too caught up in their own emotions to think rationally, let alone think about the situation from each other's perspectives. Virat was so pained by Sai's questions, that he could not look beyond that to see where she was coming from or why she was being so impacted. That is why I see the pool fight + its aftermath as a trigger that marked a change in Virat's understanding of Sai. Yes, Sunny and Aai both helped him come to the realization, but he finally learned that he needs to look past Sai's words and into the intentions/emotions behind what she is saying. The first indication that Virat was changing was the bedroom scene where he recognizes that him talking to Pakhi bothers Sai and he can sense how riled up she is getting by his words. The most significant scene since then, in my opinion, has been the college festival fight. Because, for a second it seemed like there would be another explosion. But, instead, it showed their deepened understanding for each other...namely Virat's. He saw through Sai's facade and was trying to probe her by questioning the intent behind her actions. The bed tea scene the next morning just reaffirmed that.
