Shaurya and Anokhi are interesting children stuck in interesting homes.

Shaurya spent his time pacifying while Anokhi is actively trying to provoke. Shaurya has a level of respect but also feels beholden to Tejvi for all their sacrifices and selflessness. Anokhi is enraged and calls out the ā€œehsaanā€ and ā€œpermissionā€. Going forward Shaurya continues to be measured in his approach because he has to balance the feeling of indebtedness with his righteousness. While Anokhi gets to be enraged about the unfairness and doesn’t feel duty bound due to her belief in feminism!

The Babli conversation reminded me about conversations we’ve had on the forum during later episodes. Babli asks Anokhi why she doesn’t just listen to her Papaji and avoid instigation and how speaking about feminism is fashionable. These are words right from the patriarchy handbook fed to women so they can hold down other women. Who needs to blame men when women do such a great job maintaining the status quo because change would be uncomfortable for them.

In the Sabherwal household Devi does a great job maintaining the patriarchy; running to the kitchen to get her husband a gobara-like phulka. May Tej choke on it!😈 Gayatri also makes a great point about how the Sabherwal standards are fake. They act like they want high class bahus but they actually want becharis they can control and cage!

Side notes…..

Instead of questioning why kitchen work should cause ā€œbeizzati in the sasuraalā€, Shaurya offers a solution of training Bebo and Kitty at home. Are they dogs that need training and need to be housebroken before marriage??

Great shot of Aastha thinking of her son while the viewer could see the Kashyap parents in the background. The tough choice Aastha had to make!

Devi really does love Shaurya(selfishly perhaps). And Shaurya does love his Badi Ma. She’s above all for him and will be always. I believe this would’ve held if she didn’t actively try to sabotage ShaKhi. Devi would have been better off approving Anokhi and still being number one in Shaurya’s heart! I really enjoyed Alka and KV in their scene in this episode!!

Precap: Same!

Thoughts?

Looking at the Bhallas I feel like I am transported to a different century! The world has moved on yet these regressive thoughts about girls being a burden, giving birth to a boy, unsatisfied husband allowed a second marriage just for bearing kids. This is a "ufff" of a different kind. šŸ˜›

Anokhi is not broken by any means. Every time she gets hit, her determination becomes stronger. So much so, that although she was ready to get married earlier, barring certain conditions, she now doesn't want to- even if just to spite her father.

Devi emotionally blackmails Shaurya and subtly puts forth the absence of legality in their relationship. Her every tear appears so fake. Even after 25 years she is so insecure of her relationship with her son, it will surely bring about a downfall in future. The whole - sand held too tight in the palm slipping through the fingers concept.

Shaurya respects the only motherly relationship in his life. He leaves no stone unturned to assure her of his relationship. Even if it is out of obligation.

Aastha mentions about lying to Anokhi, but I didn't get why. She only says that Devi has filled Shaurya's mind with poison. Am I missing something in her dialogue?

Loved it when Anokhi says she doesn't want to be anyone's shadow. Interestingly not even her Aastha M'am. She is proud of being Anokhi. Such a strong belief at her age. šŸ‘šŸ‘

Chalo, kahin pe toh Devi Sabherwal fail huin! Beeji ke phulkon ki tareef sunkar toh unka bhi mooh chota ho gaya! 🤣🤣 And Sabherwals have a set standard for Phulkas too?? Which planet do they belong to?

Shaurya's stand on the phulka issue is weird. Him saying that Kitty and Bebo should learn now itself so that they are not humiliated at their in laws'. Was that in support of Kanchan or that he expects his sisters to also 'toe the line' when it comes to their in laws? I can't get that clearly.

The Sabherwals mentality is getting more and more appalling. They do not choose DILs, they choose victims. Victims who have no way out but to bow down to their conditions because they have been stripped off of every other support, every other way out. Very calculative and manipulative methods indeed.

And here Anokhi is trying everything possible to come out of this same trap that the Sabherwals are weaving. Her take on "permission" and "ehsaan" is so strong. No wonder their clashes were so electrifying!
