So this was the famous phulka episode .Also why is yash so quiet .In the initial episodes and even later yash practically had no role to play .I don't know why the cvs did not explore his character arc.Only shaan was the same member in that house .Had aastha been in that house atleast shaurya would have had a different upbringing.

Yash was at least present in the initial episodes. Later he just disappeared. Appeared again during Goa episodes and disappeared. Was not present for even Shaurya's wedding. Maybe if the makers had time they would have shown more about Yash and his relationship with Kanchan and others. Hope we get to see all this in S2.

The episode was all anokhi.❤️

Started with Bhalla senior and biji blaming a normal 19 year old for behaving the way she should be. By this time we know that anokhi is used to all the insults and injuries. It has made her 'dheet' over the years. Plus she is a self made woman who has supported her own education with 0 help from him (just sad!)

Funny thing there is a parenting line which says if you punish/scold a child too much, it loses its value and impact..and we can clearly see that. Infact, Rami Bhalla scolding anokhi for just basic human things is why she is so bitter at home, so aggressive and assertive. Now I understand why people felt disconnected with her character when she went to Chandigarh and said she mellowed down, I think she had a change of environment for the better.

The women (Babli and rama) , just trying to protect and preserve to the best of their abilities. Babli does not understand anokhi, she fears for her but the love is evident. She wants her to give in so that her pain lessens as she believes every woman has to accept her 'cursed fate'. But the love is pure between the sisters. The same anokhi who refused to talk to her sister in anger immediately melted and applied ointment to her. Anokhi has a lot of love to give, just needs the right environment! Her fear of all things men and marriage is as due to the society around her and hence when her world expands her fear changes.

Sad thing to note that she was willing to marry anyone as long as she could educate herself. Well, she is just 19 and has clearly no time or value for love as her environment never allowed it.

The Shaurya and Badi maa scene, how oh how devi manipulates this man who longs for acceptance. Her fear is quite evident and her love selfish. Aastha's pain is as evident as Devi's fear (both hidden quite well btw). While aastha did sacrifice but she was unfair to her son. On the same page while their love might be opposite but both are imperfect mother's.

The story of the phulka and beti-bahu issues. How does it matter how the goddamn phulka is as long as you can eat it. Tej loves creating issues to feed his male pride and the minions pitch in. Point to not shaurya did not give a damn about the food and even pointed out the mistakes of his sister. I am still confused so as to what his exact thinking is about women!?!?

This episode made me realise that both shaurya and Anokhi's thinking is the product of their bad experiences and hence both characters give out extreme reactions to certain triggers.

After todays episode, and Anokhi fierce and almost aggressive reaction, I am not surprised that the show was called off and ended so abruptly.

Whatever serials I glanced at after a few minutes they get on my nerves. The self sacrificing fL is the norm, and any FL which does not follow the norm would not be allowed to stay.

When we look at shaurya also, at the oment he is the usual ML who is listening to the elders in the family, but his behaviour with his mother is against the norm, so again not according to the usual formula. So I am not surprised it was not allowed to continue.

The episode today was all about Anokhi and her reactions, but what really caught my attention is Devi sabherwal and the manipulative person she is.

She is THE SABHERWAL, and all the men there believe they are ruling the house, but she is the controlling person.

Episode 8:

Rebel Anokhi fighting all alone for her right.Right for education.Daughters are said to be lakshmi for their parents.Now she has taken one of the forms of the divine godess that is Chandi....Fighting for right..

Anokhi was ready to get married if she has the permission to continue her studies....desperation for education us such.On contrary Mr.Bhalla giving her a incentive of requesting clown and family for her education...

Good thing is now that she knows the kind of society she lives in sheneeds oermisdion for her badic right and thus revolts back.

All through her student life till now her education was free and she earned scholarship for herself since past two years,Where as Mr.Bhalla took loan for Raja's study.How is she a burden and Raja is sn asset?Beeji and Mr.Bhalla keep on hurling insults but she brushes them off as if they are nothing.The injuries on her hand does not seem to affect her.She just hates her father's soch but not her father.A truly loving daughter Mr .Bhalla should be proud of.Babli and Ramaa in their best ways protect her but they are too afraid of consequences.

Anokhi is always on the giving end in any relationship.Be it her parents or be it her sister.The bond between sisters is just adorable. Both fight for each other.

Anokhi:Main anokhi hoon kisi ki chavi nahin.

Shaurya -Devi- Aastha.Having two mothers the guy did not get pure love from Devi and Aastha's love was not shown to him.Being abandoned by his mother,He was brought up by Devi who did not leave any change to poison Shaurya against Aastha.Shaan...the guy who was supposed to set things right never bothered.Shaurya is totally dependent on Sabherwals for emotional security knowing that they are not so real.He is being manipulated by Devi to allay down her fear and insecurities as a mother and as a head of Sabherwal clan.Aastha's sacrifice in unkniwn to Shaurya and Devi's built up sacrifice is being reminded always to Shaurya.

Tej Phulka Sabherwal is so fastidious and fussy about phulkas and taunts Kanchan and Gayatri that they are not aware of Sabherwal khandaan's roti making skills.Shaurya who butts in to support Kanchan is quitened saying phulkas are not as per Sabherwal standards.I know ISI standards.Never aware of such double standards Excuse me for that Tej sir.

How dare Betty pass such comments on her bhabhi?Gayatri admonishes them but Yash puttar just passes a nasty look at them.When Shaurya tries making sense Devi shuts him up. Gayatri s logic behind why they got middle class bahus is on point.Sabherwals need to show off their supremacy and what better to torture DIL s in the name of married to a high class family.

SHAURYA wants his life partner to be a home maker because of his past experiences.He supports Kanchan like a brother and correct Betty when they are wrong.He respects Badi maa ,Kanchan and Gayatri,loves them unconditionally.Just because Aastha is shown in a wrong light to Shaurya by Devi,he wants housewife.The Angst and hurt of a 4 year old boy...is so much that he does not want his children to suffer.Seeing a kanchan face such insults regarding food Shaurya wants his sisters not to face similar situation in my opinion.

Both Shakhi have some baggage and both are determined to do what is right for them.

I think this is an unfortunate reality to many. There’s a reason gender reveal isn’t legal in India. Female infanticide is major issue still. Like Anokhi said, there’s a reason why an initiative like “beti bachao, beti padao” exists.

Anokhi is not broken by any means. Every time she gets hit, her determination becomes stronger. So much so, that although she was ready to get married earlier, barring certain conditions, she now doesn't want to- even if just to spite her father.

It’s such a serious scene but I still couldn’t help but laugh at how adamant she is about not getting married. She never expected to run into Shaurya Sabherwal! Mata Rani sends the best! You get what you NEED, not what you want!

Devi emotionally blackmails Shaurya and subtly puts forth the absence of legality in their relationship. Her every tear appears so fake. Even after 25 years she is so insecure of her relationship with her son, it will surely bring about a downfall in future. The whole - sand held too tight in the palm slipping through the fingers concept.

Shaurya respects the only motherly relationship in his life. He leaves no stone unturned to assure her of his relationship. Even if it is out of obligation.

The whole scene I was so confused about legality of a mother-son relationship. Aastha’s haq isn’t a legal thing. Her son is a legal adult, she doesn’t have legal rights. Aastha’s haq is a blood relation issue that can’t be severed! I think Devi just wants it thrown in Aastha’s face! Shaurya may not be Tejvi’s son but he’s a Sabherwal through Shaan!

Aastha mentions about lying to Anokhi, but I didn't get why. She only says that Devi has filled Shaurya's mind with poison. Am I missing something in her dialogue?

I think Aastha was startled by her son’s hatred, which is why she lied to Anokhi when she asked. That’s what I understood.

Loved it when Anokhi says she doesn't want to be anyone's shadow. Interestingly not even her Aastha M'am. She is proud of being Anokhi. Such a strong belief at her age. 👏👏

Her self confidence is admirable!

Chalo, kahin pe toh Devi Sabherwal fail huin! Beeji ke phulkon ki tareef sunkar toh unka bhi mooh chota ho gaya! 🤣🤣 And Sabherwals have a set standard for Phulkas too?? Which planet do they belong to?

Shaurya's stand on the phulka issue is weird. Him saying that Kitty and Bebo should learn now itself so that they are not humiliated at their in laws'. Was that in support of Kanchan or that he expects his sisters to also 'toe the line' when it comes to their in laws? I can't get that clearly.

I think Shaurya’s misogyny came out there. He does believe in gender roles and her sisters marrying off into sasuraals where their job will be in the kitchen like Devi, Gayatri and Kanchan.

The Sabherwals mentality is getting more and more appalling. They do not choose DILs, they choose victims. Victims who have no way out but to bow down to their conditions because they have been stripped off of every other support, every other way out. Very calculative and manipulative methods indeed.

This is like grooming and exploitation. These women don’t have the option of their maayka to return to. It’s used as a threat! I’m thoroughly disgusted by the Sabherwals and Devi’s role in it.

And here Anokhi is trying everything possible to come out of this same trap that the Sabherwals are weaving. Her take on "permission" and "ehsaan" is so strong. No wonder their clashes were so electrifying!

I love that the words “permission” and “allow” will come back to tie the story together!

Most of Indian should marry either chefs or hotel cooks.No woman can match up to their mothers.Whatever the wife cooks ,husband admire their moms.That way every girl should study till 10th or 12th grade and join kitchen to master culinary skills.Some orthodox families give importance to child marriage in rural areas just because the girl at young age can be moulded easily than grown up girls.This is still prevailing in some communities in India.

Devi too smart a lady and whole Sabherwal clan is dancing to her tunes.The more i watch the initial episodes,the more iam in love with Gayatri chachi and Kanchan.The ideal Saas bahu should be like them.I admire their bond.
