Appreciation post for Sharda Deshmukh aka Aai

This is the appreciation post for the only and most wonderfully written character Sharda Deshmukh aka Aai…

she is the definition of nerve of steel and motherly instinct…Pallavi wasn’t her own daughter but she has accepted her as a daughter whole heartedly…. she would have been a wonderful MIL too … however she was unlucky in terms of husband and possibly a son…

that lady doesn’t shy away from calling a spade a spade… she is neither selfish nor gullible…

from episode 1, she always wanted good things for Pallavi and determined to find a perfect life partner for her.. standing up to society and her own husband for her adopted daughter..

her trust in her never wavered… she always tried to understand her POV. The only instance when she wasn’t able to “act first think later” was when Raghav accused pallavi of adultery, lie and greed… she was confused.. she wasn’t believing the proof presented in front of her but those were proofs alright and that is why she was unsuccessful to protect Pallavi from VD’s wrath… after a while she gained senses and went to search for her against the wishes of her husband …and went on to the extent of removing her wedding symbols when threatened by her husband.

When she found out that her daughter is marrying the same man who insulted her she understood immediately that she is under pressure. there was never an iota of doubt that Pallavi is doing something wrong…she pleaded her to not go forward with this wedding as she knew the man she is marrying to is not good… but she still went ahead with the wedding.. she was heartbroken and for a moment it looks like that she will never forgive pallavi but she did … because after all she was her child and a mother can be angry but cannot abandon her child…

she also noticed that the boy she chose to get married is not a bad man…he realized his mistakes and trying hard to rectify it. he even tried to clear her name..he is not a bad man after all… though she still had her reservations, she tried to make a connection with the guy only for her daughter…

and when everyone believed that Raghav has played a cheap trick to put VD behind bars, she wasn’t fully convinced and decided to hold on to that information till she can do more research.. but it was found out and VD wanted Pallavi back in the house not because he cares.. he just wanted to hurt Raghav … still at the end of the day, she was getting her daughter back from a marriage which was forced but when she saw her daughter standing up for the man.. there was no doubt in her mind that their relationship has blossomed and it is no longer a forced bond…

after that she tried her best to help her daughter to make her marriage work…she was a little jealous because she wanted to be with pallavi as both her Mother and MIL but that can’t be possible…

then come the biggest shock her dead son is alive albeit his memories .. she was happy to get him back but when she saw what everyone around is trying to do i.e. trying to destroy the newly sprouted relationship of her daughter…. she stood up for her …

she also realized that somewhere her newly returned son is getting obsessed with having her ex wife back … any other mother would do anything to please her son who just came back from dead but not her.. she stood her ground firmly… because she has accepted her daughter’s husband as her son-in-law and now he is also her son… so she can’t let anything bad happen to both of them …she has grasp of the whole situation…

she is the best mother one can ask for and probably the best character ever written…. not an ideal wife or ideal mother but a person who is true to her principles and character… i adore her and I hope she remains this way

Sorry for the long post but rarely I found a character so well written and so true to her nature that I truly have to…

This was a much needed post--while others were thinking Aai would be the reason Pallavi would be back to D-house but her stand that she does not want Pallavi to stay there was surprising.

she is a strong and firm women--and I cant stop appreciating her for it--calling out her family members, standing up for her beliefs--she sets an example for how a mother should be--guiding children in true path

Ayi has always been right up there for me from the beginning. The very first episode when they introduced her character..the scene where she gets upset with Pallavi for accepting the white saree from Krishna's mom, from that moment onwards she has been my absolute favorite. Something about the way she says "meri Pallu" with a smile so warm and full of affection, is just so endearing. I remember people finding it a foreshadowing of some sort when she removes Raghav intitial from her hand.. I somehow even then found nothing sneaky about it.. Raghav and Pallavi hated each other that time and he was the reason Vijay used to remain so upset with Pallavi.. I just saw it as a mother's way of protecting her daughter from her father's wrath.. anyway... She has always been scrutinized and many a times unfairly criticized for her actions most of which were mere assumptions.. but she stood the test of time and has earned a lot of respect across board for which I am extremely happy..Ayi has been one constant in Pallavi's life, will always be.
