Trigger se yaad aaya, you know how some shows give a photosensitive epilepsy trigger warning. Woh 6 baje ke show ko definetly dena chahiye in fact, har baar break lete hai uske baad bhi dikhana chahiye. 5 mins i watched it and i had a headache...so much of background sound, so much of camera movement, Gosh!!! i repeat myself, i absolutely like that MHRW is directed and shot better.

Vijay sees it and gets all pissed off, Pallavi is distressed at his anger. Ayi notices it, pulls her aside and has her dye a sari using haldi. At the end of the process, the mehndi has faded, which was Ayi's intention all along. Pallavi tells her she needn't have been sneaky- she could have been upfront. Plus, she says her issues with Vijay don't need these little tricks.

Now, how I had interpreted this was that Ayi was clearly sensing Vijay's trust issues. She knew that there's nothing going on between RaghVi, but she knew Vijay is going all shaqi on Pallu. She took a very 'brush it under the carpet' approach to this. She removed the mehndi to avoid triggering Vijay, but didn't address the actual underlying problem- Vijay's mistrust. My feeling was that aisa hi chalta rahega, and while triggers may get reduced, the mistrust will keep simmering and build up until it one day explodes irreparably- which is what happened the night Pallu was ousted.

💯 so turns out your interpretation was on point. I have also felt that Aayi has tried to hide VD’s vile tendencies from Pallavi time and again. Like VD was portrayed as the most ideal father figure to Pallavi in the beginning haina? And Pallavi held him in such a high regard hamesha. Only after he threw Pallavi out of the house, aayi started speaking bluntly to him and pointing out things like Mandaar being scared of Vijay. It’s like Aayi’s anger towards VD not only comes from the fact that he ousted Pallavi, but it’s all the bottled up feelings from before that have erupted like a volcano. Aayi always knew his tendencies, tried to protect Pallavi from it but was never really upfront about it.

About people misinterpreting this scene- I think we sometimes read a lot between the lines, more than it’s needed. An otherwise insignificant scene is considered as ‘foreshadowing’ while it might just have been a filler and nothing else. Like you would only know it later na, if it was really foreshadowing or not.
