I've generally seen it used more in an irritated/frustrated/annoyed/troubled context than hurting.

Mala tras deu nako for example.

Personally speaking, as Bucky said, vait vattne would perhaps be a better fit IMO for hurt in the context Akshita said it in (we feel bad/we're hurt types)

Traas is a Marathi word used in a variety of contexts depending on the mood.

One context is - like Bucky said - hurt. Mala traas hotoy would mean I am being hurt.

Another context is - when someone is annoyed. In that mood, it would convey that - that someone is off.

Another context is - when someone is lazy. Nor sure how often this is used but I have come across a lot of folks using this one. Mala traas yetoy would basically mean jaan pe aana. 😆 ( like i don't want to finish this thesis. Bohot jaan pe aa raha hai. Khup traas yetoy.)

😆

PS: Why do I feel that I went too far? 😆

Languages can be so fascinating. One word. Can be used in so many different contexts. 🤪

That brings me to ask - Bucky, how do you know Marathi?

I actually like languages and would've tried to learn as many Indian ones as possible, but the scripts being different for different languages makes it tougher. 😃

I know! I love learning about different languages. And the more you learn, the more you realize how words travel across cultures and borders--same word, same meaning or same word with a very different meaning based on how certain people make it their own. It really intrigues me

Thank you, Ruby. You reminded me of a pending VM.

Chahat ki raahon me aage badhte hai Punjabi!

Aankhon se aankhon ki bhasha padhte hai Punjabi!

This has been pending for almost ages now. At least now I would go back to finishing it. All because of you. ❤️😆🤗

👍🏼

I've heard it in regular usage though much rarely. Have heard it in a few Marathi dramas though and I think in their case they wanted to highlight how unbearable the pain is.

Doesn't traas mean trouble or the emotional hurt inflicted upon someone?
