Most of us know it is not the end of the world. But people are still frustrated, angry and upset which os very normal.
Age has nothing to do with it. It is basic human emotion to feel frustrated and upset with the things you are attached to. I have seen people in all age groups ranting, bashing writers, crying, creating chaos when they ruined GOT in the last season. I have seen Star Trek fans in 50s bashing changes in new series, crying over ruining old storylines, new actors etc. I have also seen people in 70s and 80s crying over England losing the football finals a couple of days ago. It is also just a sport just like TV shows. Emotions don't have logic. Many people work on emotions and it is healthy also for your psychological health.
The thing is you can not know or decide what show matters to others. In this lockdown when people are disconnected from human contact, increasing divorce cases, break ups, they might be finding mental peace with any show/sport/cooking/reading etc. So they develop an emotional connection with that thing.
I read one case where a woman was about to commit suicide and was waiting for her husband and son to leave the house. Before leaving her son just started Kapil Sharma show on TV and left. His mom watched it for two hours and her decision was changed and she did not commit suicide. After that the show became very important and a big deal for her. So you never know what the other person behind the keyboard is going through.
