These are some interesting point of views. In my opinion I am going to cut Jasmine some slack. Till now she seems more grey than a completely negative character.

Having being sheltered from a young age and always rescued by her older sister she is childish and stubborn. Right now she is blinded by her emotions and does not completely realise what impact her actions will have on tejo. She still cares about her sister but right now her priority is Fateh.

At first she was just a girl with misplaced priorities but good intentions. With the new promo she seems like someone with psychotic tendencies. The upcoming track seems to be heading towards 'Jasmine is the biggest Villain' direction.

If they get Jasmine and Amrik married in the future...this could not get more stereotypical. A redemption arc would be lovely instead :)

God this is the one reason why I think being a villain is much easier than being a protagonist in an ITV show, at least they're honest with their feelings though most of the time their motives are completely unreasonable.

Yes, you do like forgiving leads who are revered by everyone for their kindness and put on a pedestal, but that's something 13-15 year old's enjoy (even they are beginning to despise the concept since every generation is becoming more 'woke' than the former). As an adult, everyone just looks crazy! You can not bring yourself to relate with any of the characters or their rationale, especially the MCs, I would never forgive someone who tried to kidnap, ruin, kill or destroy me 999 times...

Jasmine’s love for Tejo was what made me like her and now the makers have forgotten about it. Even when she was obsessed with Canada she said that she’ll take Tejo along, then how can she forget her all of a sudden? She could have still become very mad at the idea of Fateh moving on and acted out too but it would have been nice to see her conflict between care for Tejo and frustration/selfishness.

What do all of you think?

Thanks for the tag and thread!

Actually Jasmine's character could've been the MVP of the show, it had the most potential even more than Tejo I'd dare say. She could've been shown as that one character who depended on everyone for everything, but changed into someone who didn't rely on anyone. That would've been such a beautiful character growth (let me revel in my delusions😆)

She started off as a naïve one who only valued three things- Canada, Tejo and her family (though her idea of not fulfilling her dreams herself irked me) she did have something lovable about her. Contrary to what people think, Jasmine according to me has still not let go of Canada. She wants Fateh- because of her hurt ego and belief that he can still land a job in Canada (the same kind of belief that Fateh had when he assured his father that Jasmine will come back from Canada after staying there a while) She wants Gippy- as a backup plan to Canada along with the added benefit of making Fateh jealous.

Even Jasmine using Tejo to get Fateh is not because she hates Tejo, but because she thinks she's in the right. She wants to have everything back- Tejo who always spoiled her, Fateh who always prioritized her and Canada which Fateh promised her as @Niki had once mentioned.

I agree with all your points. I also liked Jasmine because she was unwilling to compromise on her ambitions.

Tejo's kind nature is the typical itv trait where the family is always put first, so there was no surprise here. But I liked how she would stand up to F during the initial days without going over the top, and she had reasonable arguments.

Fateh it was difficult to connect with him 😆

Fateh didn't really know Jasmine. Before he would stalk her and he built this idea of the perfect girl in his head, what he thought she was based on her looks and stalking. When he actually got to know her, he realised that she is a bit different from what he thought, he didn't mind, he "loved" her and the idea of finally meeting his dream girl, talking to her... all the things he had in his head prior to meeting her, he started doing in, fulfilling her wishes and all...

I wonder how the writers will show the difference.

@bold: Yes. I'm so glad someone else thinks this way too. Jasmine could have easily become the best character of the show and the makers ruined it. I would've watched the show for her and not Tejo/Fatejo.

As to the rest of the post, that's an interesting perspective. Didn't think of it that way but it's possible. Jasmine wants everything to go exactly the way she wants which was evident from her dream.

I’ve always liked Tejo because of her level of maturity and sensibility but yes I agree that Jasmine’s character had the potential to steal this show. Jasmine was.. I mean she is loud and confident but before she met Fateh her character spoke to me as an independent 21st century woman. I didn’t think she would ever have to rely on a man to fulfill her dreams, etc. Whereas Tejo is self-sacrificial, puts her family before herself... Jasmine could have been selfish (in a positive way). It’s not wrong to be selfish, to be an unapologetic woman, to live outside the norm.

I would have probably been able to relate to Jasmine more had they not made her character so egoistical. Jasmine’s first priority is her own happiness, and she doesn’t allow anyone to dictate to her how she should behave.

I wish her character actually decided to move on, and respect Fateh and Tejo’s relationship. In fact she could have taught Tejo to stand up for herself to Amrik, Tejo’s mother in law, etc.

I might be in the minority but I’ve not liked Jasmine ever!! She rubbed me the wrong way immediately. My first impression of her character was rude, selfish and delusional.

She’s being true to her character.

The entire story reminds me of another serial, the similarities are too much. Hell even their homes look similar. Idk if anyone has seen Geet hui sabse parayi, but that's like an AU of this show. The protagonist is childish and naive too there, but she's a better person and actually learns to stand on her feet.

Though I left that show in between when I realized they're gonna redeem an absolute trash character.

@bold

Dev 😆

Yeah she actually learnt how to stand up on her feet though she received help from Maan's grandmother. I liked that show when I was younger.

When the Dev actor changed, it felt different, not the same

I tried to stay but couldn't. Even before changing actors it's disgusting. They literally 'redeemed' a character who conned a family, had sex and left her pregnant and put the entire blame on his wife as if ye toh toffee khata chota bacha hai. Ew.
