Hi guys, this is my take on the 'Tejo goes missing track' hope you guys like it!
Fateh was sick with worry for the last 8 hours. It was 2 am and there was still no sign of Tejo. He had developed a stubborn headache in the 6th hour which showed no sign of leaving him. Burying his face in his hands a lone tear escaped his eyes.
His mind was flooded with the worst of the possibilities and each path he went down ended with chilling results. He had called every hospital, every clinic, every medical store but there was no sign of Tejo.
He had driven aimlessly for 2 hours on the streets in the hopes of finding her, but to no avail. His body shook with his fear for her. What if she is in trouble? He had made a promise, not even 3 days ago to protect her, to fulfil his role as a husband and look at how this was turning out.
He stared expectantly at his phone as if by his will alone it would ring. There had been no call, no message from her. He had been to the police station twice but they had refused to file a complaint before 24 hours.
He hated feeling so helpless, so powerless. He didn't know where Tejo was right now but he wanted to be with her, beside her.
That's it he couldn't wait anymore. Steeling his resolve to search the town he headed for the door, just when it swung open.
There stood Tejo.
The relief that washed over Fateh could not be conveyed in words. He had literally died a hundred times over in the past 8 hours. Before Fateh could make any more sense of the situation he was sprinting towards her and consuming her into a hug.
"Kah thi aap Tejo ji, pata hai main kitna darr gaya tha! Phone toh kar sakti thi aap"
Fateh rambled as he tightened his hold on her, pulling her closer, fearing that she would slip away if he loosened his hold.
But Tejo was still, stone still. She didn't move, she didn't respond. Sensing the tension Fateh pulled apart. Getting a good look at his wife he understood that something is very wrong. Her eyes were red and puffy, her cheeks were stained with dried tears and her lips trembled ever so slightly.
Was she hurt? Did something happen? If somebody did something he was going to hunt them down and kill them with his bare hands.
"Tejo ji aap thik hai? Aap kuch bol kyu nahi rahi?" His eyes travelled down scanning her body for any signs of injury. That is when he realised her Kurta was soaked in blood.
Oh my god she was hurt, someone had hurt her. His heart beat went wild and his breathing erratic. A panic settled inside him.
"Tejo ji yeh khoon? Aapko kaha chot lagi? Hume hospital chalna chahiye"
That is when for the first time since she returned she looked him in the eye and whispered "I'm fine"
"Fine!?" Fateh practically yelled "You are drenched in blood, we are going to the doctor now"
"Fateh. Relax. It's not my blood" and with that she pushed him aside and rushed into her room.
Not her blood than whose? and so much of it? And for one insane fleeting moment he thought 'omg she killed someone' before pushing it away and rushing behind his wife.
"Tejo ji! Tejo ji! kya hua? aap thik toh hai?" He called out as he entered his room. He ran towards the bathroom door repeatedly banging on it. "Tejo ji please javaab dijiye mujhe bahut darr lag raha hai" Fateh pleaded.
After minutes of repeated pleading the door opened and Tejo stepped out. She was now wearing fresh clothes.
"I'm fine Fateh" she repeated, then pushing past him she started for the bed. But was stopped short as Fateh gripped her wrist and pulled her toward him. The suddeness of his action sent her crashing into his chest.
"Yeh koi jawaab nahi hota Tejo ji! I have been sick worried for the last 10 hours now. Bure bure kihayaal aa rahe the dimaag mein...aisa lag raha thi kahi aapne apne aap ko kuch..." and the rest of his words died down in his throat.
At that Tejo frowned "Main kyu kuch...tumhe pata hai?" she questioned as the sudden realisation dawned on her.
Fateh nodded "Abhiraj ne bataya ki Jasmine ne aapko kya kaha tha"
Tejo smiled a sad smile "Jiske liye main mar chuki hoon uski shabdo ke wajah se main kuch ulta seedha kyu karoon? And do you think I am that weak?"
"It's not that I think you are weak, I was just worried. Woh khoon? Hua kya tha?"
"Main ghar hi aarahi thi ki kisi ka accident hua road par. Meri jaisi hi ladki thi, mujh se shayad thodi badi. Akele raste par behosh, drenched in her own blood. Log toh the lekin usse hospital koyi nahi leke jaa raha tha toh maine ambulance ko call kiya aur usse hospital le gayi. Jab tak uske parivaar wale nahi aaye tab tak mein udhar hi thi"
"Aaap inform toh kar sakti thi?" Fateh reasoned
"Itna kuch itne jaldi hua ki infor karne ka time hi nahi mila, upar se battery dead hogayi thi"
Fateh frowned, something about the story didn't sit right with him.
"Aur kuch..." he prompted
But Tejo fell silent. Her eyes looked everywhere but him and that is when he knew she was hiding something. For she could lie to him all she wanted, but he knew her eyes won't be able to hide the truth.
