Pyaar ka Mauka - Part 3
Third and final installment of Pyaar ka Mauka. Initially, was just thinking of a one shot but thanks to your encouragement and imagination, this grew into a short series. Enjoy!
‘Mein ye sab tumhare naam karna chahti hoon Raghav.’ She looked at him lovingly and leaned in and kissed him on his cheek. ‘Ardham ayinda?’
Part 3
To say that he was taken aback was an understatement. This Saree ka Dukaan sure knew how to render him speechless. Nothing would have prepared Raghav for this moment and these moments were happening far too often. He had felt the same way when Farhad had informed him about his beloved Bhabhi baking a protein cake for him. Then she had taken a stand against her ‘family’ for him, she had trusted him without asking for any evidence. She had patiently listened and understood without judgement as he revealed his past, and even managed to assist in mending relations with his Amma. And most recently, she had resorted to beating The Raghav Rao when he had tried to send her to Kolhapur thinking this would make her happy.
Every time he thought he was getting close to understanding her, she would do the unthinkable. This is what frustrated Raghav to no end. He had been around plenty of women before, but everything happened on his terms without any expectations, without any feelings and without love. This woman - this petite, gorgeous, strict Marathi woman was a mystery for Raghav, entirely unpredictable. The first time they had shared a room, she had clearly warned him about knowing Judo and Karate and here she was confessing her love and kissing him.
Pallavi loved him? Is that what she just said? She loved him and wanted to stay with him. His mind kept questioning and repeating itself. He realised he was looking at her but not really looking until he felt a drop of water slide down his open chest and underneath his shirt. Whilst he had been lost in his thoughts, he had subconsciously caged Pallavi in his arms and her fingers were nervously pulling at his shirt buttons. He couldn’t see her eyes as she was looking down but her cheeks were flushed. It took him a moment to process what the drop of water had been when he saw another tear making its way down to her chin.
‘Pallavi… mereko dekho. Idhar dekho na, please Pallavi.’ He pleaded whilst leaning forwards and pressing his forehead against hers. This unexpected contact made Pallavi lift her eyes and he saw her looking at him through moist lashes. Her twinkling eyes were now clouded and he whispered, ‘please ro mat. Kaiko ro raha hai tum?’ He asked, genuinely confused.
The fire in her eyes was back. ‘Yaha mein itne mushkil se tumhe apni dil ki baat bata rahi hoon, aur tum… tum…’ She tried to get out of his arms by wriggling but he only pulled her closer. She turned her face away from him in anger, pouting. She looked directly away from him as she started her rant…‘Dekho, mujhe pata hai ke tumhe mujh mein koi interest nahi hai, lekin aisa naatak karke meri feelings ka mazaak mat urao. Maine ye nahi kaha, ke tumhe bhi mujhe pyaar karna hai. Main bas ye keh rahi hoon, ke mein tumhe chahti hoon aur tum mujhe rok nahi sakte.’
‘Naatak… kaun naatak kar raha hai?’ He asked. ‘Aur maine kab mazaak uraya? Tum hamesha mereko ghalat samajta hai Pallavi.’ He continued in a low voice. ‘Kisne bola ke mereko tum mein interest nahi hai huh?’
‘TUMNE Ghamandi Rao… ye tumhare alfaaz hai.’ She stared at him angrily as she challenged him.
If there was one thing that Raghav found incredibly attractive, it was this fiery Pallavi. At this moment, the man inside him was rejoicing at how much his saree ka dukaan wanted him and was affected by his words. She obviously wanted him to want her. Little did she know that Raghav had wanted her for a very, very long time. However he had always respected her desire for space and had not considered himself worthy of a woman like Pallavi. His life was tainted with pain, crime and despair. Pallavi deserved someone who would love her how she loves. He knew he could be that someone, a part of him was working towards it but he would never have imposed himself on her. He had never in his wildest dreams thought that she would love him, hence he had not allowed himself to explore that possibility.
Even before the marriage, Raghav had been attracted to her physically and her strong character had drawn him closer to her. After the marriage, being in close proximity to Pallavi, he had noticed how stunningly beautiful she was. He had wondered on many occasions how fate could be so cruel. A beautiful woman like Pallavi deserved to be loved and cherished yet she had been happy to live her life as a widow.
The moment he saw Pallavi drenched in the pool, he realised he had to be careful with Pallavi. Holding her small frame so close to him and feeling her skin had awoken some desires within himself. Later, when she was upset over her father being in jail, he remembered how he had felt when he comforted her in his arms. He had been reluctant to let her go and he had cherished the feel of Pallavi in his arms. He could not risk being too close to her, lest he lost his control or did something he would regret. This was why he had always been careful with touching her. She on the other hand, had been comfortable enough to hold his hand, hit him, pull him and now kiss him.
He decided to tease her a little. ‘Acha, tumko bura laga? Kaiko? Tumne bhi to bola tha na… kisi bhi janam mein tum mere se pyar nahi karega.’ He raised his eyebrows and smiled at her.
She looked down, embarrassed and whispered, ‘maine aisa nahi kaha tha’
‘Acha…paltu kahi ki. Tumne aisa hi kaha tha.’ He leant forward and surprised her by kissing her on her forehead. He heard the sharp intake of breath as she met his eyes again. Her big wide eyes were searching his. He knew she was waiting for him to express his feelings but he was enjoying this way too much. ‘Lekin aaj mein tumko maaf karta hai, aakhir tum to mujhse pyaar karta hai. Ye to hona hi tha… Raghav Rao ke sapne to dunya ki saari larkiya dekhti hai. Kyoon Pallavi?’
Her cheeks flushed and he saw her expression change from shy embarrassment to fury. ‘Ghamandi Rao… tum… argh.’ She glared at him and pushed him away from her.
He pulled her back to himself and hugged her. She tried resisting by pushing onto his chest but his hold was too strong. He buried his face in her hair and inhaled deeply. She immediately stopped resisting as she felt his warmth in her neck. Raghav spoke in a husky voice, ‘mein kiske sapna dekhta hai… Poochega nahi?’
Pallavi whispered, ‘mujhe nahi jaan na… hogi koi choti kapro wali chipku larki.’
Raghav laughed a hearty laugh and pulled back so he could see her face. He was smiling at her and felt a sudden surge of affection for the lovable, angry young woman in front of him. Holding her face in between his hands he said, ‘mere sapno mein ek hi hai Pallavi.’
Pallavi was blushing under his intense gaze as he continued. ‘ek bahut beautiful ghusse waali, lambi lambi saari pehne wali, kabhi mereko jhadu se pitai karti hai… aur kabhi bahut pyar. Meri picchi ammayi.’ Raghav wished he could pause this moment forever. The look on Pallavi’s face, the sheer joy in her eyes, and the loveliest smile he had ever seen had spread on her pretty lips. He looked at her lips and desire flooded through him. As he leaned in towards her lips he breathed, ‘Aaj mein tumko apne sare talents dikhata hai.’
