I think , through Zoya and Ishqi we have seen modern characters who are modern and also have values. Through Ahaan we do see that just because someone is traditional, doesn’t mean he’s morally right.

Arnav was another anti hero, who wasn’t regressive in his thinking.. he had other issues but not regressive.


I still feel Ishqi should have rejected him first.


What happened to the pilot track.. did they discard it?

In a way they can totally get the sensible audience calling out things but still wanna go the old route

I am someone who believes in what one does over what one says and that is why, no matter what they say, I can't consider because I don't see them doing what they are talking. 😆

I think it’s typically an Asian phenomenon - watching Turkish, Pakistani, Indian and even K dramas that I have watched. The girl is always niiicee.

I think Turkish shows still try to have questionable protagonists who often end up redeeming themselves afterwards but yeah, it's probably deep rooted within the Asian culture. It's fine if we want certain characters to represent traditions and values of the continent but it also creates this immense pressure on anyone who might be outliers.

Both males and females can have a brutal past but only males are not just allowed but also admired when that turns them into ruthless and unacceptably abusive toward others but if a female does that - kick her out, the dude deserves better..




Yeah man, like for a change, I want to see a female protagonist who doesn't believe in love or has trust issues because she's got a dark, troubled past involving her parents or family member or a romantic interest, and a happy-go-lucky guy who bumps into her and it starts with hating each other's guts to a hot, intense romance, where the girl saves the guy on multiple occasions because he is super clumsy and the girl gives 'Tabaah kardunga' dialogues on their MU😆 But, who am I kidding this thing will never fly on desi tv😳

I think in kdrama, it’s worse.

They almost always make it seem like the girl is impressed with wealth of the guy, they don’t do it outright but I think it does have a hand 😆


Even in pride and prejudice, Elizabeth does think when she sees

To be mistress of pemberly might be something.


In Indian dramas. Atleast they focus on money can’t buy happiness

I think the best thing Turkish people did was create Fatmagul.. it had a really good message and it’s so relevant to our society.

I think the audience will consume whatever is given to them by the majority of the creators. Television in the early 90s used to have some really good stories. Not saying saas-bahu shows didn't exist back then but that wasn't really the norm like it is now. People took more risks with hard-hitting plots, layered characters and depth of thoughts, and the audience accepted those shows and loved them. Female characters weren't just props for the males to romance or to be victim to kitchen politics but they were living, breathing human characters that made people pause and think. Somewhere down the line, something went really wrong which is why even in 2021, we are trying to be happy with whatever crumbs we get in the name of empowered and nuanced characters. One or two shows with novel storylines may get pulled off air because the audience will still have the alternatives but if pretty much everyone is making these, the audience will eventually learn to get used to them as well. The issue is, such experiments are high-stakes risks and in this race of TRPs and getting the right numbers for profits, no one wants to deviate from the sure-shot formula to success.

I have a story. The story opens with the female protagonist, Irene, finding out that her boyfriend, Ayden set up a hot and rich af guy to woo her to see if she will betray him.

Irene, who grew up listening to the constant taunts and shaming as a gold-digger's daughter because her mother ran away with someone richer than her father. Her elder sister couldn't take brutal namecalling, harassment and bullying that followed and she killed herself.

Her father, later died of a heart attack, once her sister was dead. Irene's uncle and aunt took her in only to suit their needs and treated her worse than a maid.

One day she managed to escape and found Melissa, a stranger turned everything for her. Her family.

Ayden's choice of putting her loyalty to test shatters her - especially because of the money part involved. Memories come back to her and the accusations of being a gold-digger's daughter become more dominant when she realizes that even her own boyfriend doubts her on the same.

She breaks up with Ayden who doesn't quite accept it and continues to try and get her back but she doesn't give in.

The male protagonist is Ilyan who is quite a nice guy, steps in the story and stumbles upon her when she is injured and the saga of accidental and planned meets continue.

Later on, she comes to know that they have met before. On the new year's evening. When in one vulnerable moment after someone from her past comes back with the horrifying memories - she ends up breaking down in front of Ilyan, letting him know the things that she perhaps wouldn't let anyone know.

Believing that they were strangers behind the masks who were never going to see each other again but damn her fate. 😆
