I think because Purvi didn't see Vipul as nothing but a friend so she didn't mention it.

I do think it's hurting Vir's ego. Similar to when Purvi said she can't love someone her tauji's age. At the time he stated he only loves Sakshi and didn't want Purvi to have feelings for him. Yet it hurt his ego that she couldn't love him due to his age.
