Exactly I totally agree. Amma is unable to forgive him even though she wants to but still she doesn’t want her son to be alone she wants him to have someone who will love him and support him and make him happy because she knows that she might not ever be able to do that for him.

Plus, like every parent, she wonders what will happen to him when she passes away. She sees that he is lonely and with age he will only harden, and it will be tough for him to adjust to another person.
