Ekta is absolutely the worst - how she is defending Pearl and the actors revealed the victims name. I'm appalled at how they handled such a sensitive issue even in RL. They want to support pearl as a friend., go ahead and do it.. don't make a tamasha out of the victim's family.

Even in 3 idiots.. people found the rape joke hilarious.

You remember Salman Khan's comment?

These people are sick in their heads.

Looking up Wiki for that show, and it even had Jennifer Winget in it!

Aah yes how could I forget that amazing show. That was the phase when I had a chhotu sa crush on Ejaz and that track completely ruined my feelings. I had so much hope from that show and Ekta trampled over my dil 😳

A similar track was shown in Kutumb too, except that the ML Pratham didn't rape Gauri but attempted to. Then after a few tears and some self-loathing, everything was hunky dory. I was quite young to understand all of it and still found it so weird 😳

He himself is an abusive person.

Everyone knows it and still people worship him. I don't think its because people are naive or impressionable - its because people believe it to be true. you can see the success of movies like Kabir Singh & Arjun Reddy. The 90s bollywood movies always had a stalker hero. Macho men were considered heroes. There was a movie with Juhi & Anil Kapoor - Anil rapes her on her wedding day (she was marrying someone else).. she comes to Anil Kapoor and starts trying to win him over and live as his wife. 🤢

I understand that love/hate troupes may be problematic as people who watch them might not be as refined & they are also difficult to show; but I think Gul's shows are more targeted towards a younger crowd - most of them who have had an education will be able to tell right from wrong. Gul's heroes like Arnav, Asad & Ahaan are not macho types, they are just deeply troubled individuals who are learning & growing. Which can happen IRL - people do change with time - how they redeem themselves is something that can be shows beautifully. They need to suffer/account for what they have done.

The more problematic shows are the regressive ones.

There was this phase on ITV, 2000s I think? When Ekta had like 1110 shows airing everywhere, and with pretty much the same cast. I would often get lost and confused between several characters played by the same sleep-deprived, dark-circled actors 😳 A few years after that I guess they came up with the total work hour policy or something (might be wrong but heard something like that). There wasn't any topic she didn't cover. Marital rape, abuse, attempted rape, molestation leading to pregnancy, forced marriage, fake pregnancy, miscarriage, accidents, plastic-surgeries, amnesia, fake amnesia, fake plastic-surgeries, lookalikes, murder but not really--you name it, she had it, except for aliens I think. That didn't happen until Hrithik's movies🤔🤣

Mouni has some sort of seductiveness in her. Can't explain it.

Good Lord don't even get me started on this franchise. After that vampire show PKYEK, I wasn't so sure about this but I like Arjun Bijlani's acting so gave this a go. Season 1 started off interesting, with the right amount of mystery and revenge so I was quite excited (also because I like the old BW Naagin movie😆). Then the graphics and the story got absurd and absurder. Every season, I try to learn the gist of the plot, and so far the only one I could roughly follow was the one with Surbhi Jyoti in it. I don't mind supernatural shows but it requires a certain amount of finesse to pull the storytelling off effectively.

I like some of her earlier ALT Balaji shows but of course most of them never got a second season😳
