The other beautiful thing about India is one has the opportunity to learn so many languages...for example, my mother tongue is Bengali, but I live in Bombay, so I know Marathi and can understand Gujarati. I have also lived in Goa, so I can understand the Goan language. I have a very basic understanding of Punjabi

English and Hindi are obviously a given...

Now thanks to the Pak drama industry, meri Urdu bhi behtar hoti ja rahi hai! 😇

Even in India English isn’t taught in some schools. That is the case usually in rural areas. Although it’s a lot of less those than before. Teaching ur kids or having kids go to a school tht teaches English is looked at as a sort of a status symbol. So everyone wants their kids to go to a English teaching school.

Isn't English compulsory in regional language medium schools as well?.. Atleast in our state its compulsory.

You know what, you make a very interesting point on mature characters...both Zaroon and Kashaf were actually both immature individuals... it's their beautiful journey of coming of age... TOGETHER... is what makes the maturity piece, so absolutely unique...

You know what, have always wondered, if a ZGH could be such a mammoth hit here in India, why does ITV still choose to remain in the clutches of mediocrity??

Zaroon and kashaf were flawed like normal human beings... Actually its kashaf's negative attitude which attracted me in the first place 😆.... I was so fed up of mahaan female characters in tv shows... Kashaf was a breath of fresh air who keeps ranting about how unfair life has been.

I guess tv audience has been habituated to watching daily soaps now... Otherwise there has been a few good finite shows on itv too.... Have u seen pow bandhi yuddh ke, dahleez, tamanna, everest etc?.... These were finite shows which aired on starplus... Unfortunately these shows didn't do well on trps... After that the channel stopped experimenting at all.... Sony tv usually makes good content too.... Yeh un dinon ki baat hai, patiala babes, yeh pyaar nahi toh kya hai were a few of them.... These shows didn't garner much trps but did well online.

Doc, Do you watch malayalam movies by any chance?... You mentioned dulquer salmaan as one of your favourites on another reply.

Usually English is taught from primary classes... Even in regional language schools, English is one of the subjects... Toh basic English is known... Rest, every state has its own language.
