I started watching this a little late, so was it shown earlier how the Mayank-Ishqi alliance was arranged?

Mayank, Ahaan and Raj seem to be from wealthy families, while Ishqi obviously is not from one. How did Suman choose Ishqi as her DIL?

Doesn't still quite answer the question as why Suman chose Ishqi specifically for her son. 😲

Ishqi is from a completely different social class than Mayank, Ahaan and Raj - almost unbelievable for an arranged marriage.

Ishqi is from a completely different social class than Mayank, Ahaan and Raj - almost unbelievable for an arranged marriage.

Suman is unlike other women in the show. She is very sweet and not a classist. I think she understands Ishqi and wanted someone from a humble background, independent, confident, and a girl with self-respect for her son. She once told Ishqi that "no one supports women so every woman should support another woman." Ishqi is exactly like that. That's why she chose Ishqi.

There are many rich families who look for middle-class girls in arranged marriages.

Makes the alliance even more baffling- no prior interaction, no means for Suman to appreciate Ishqi's qualities over a period of time etc. 😕

Oh well, mildly irritating for the makers not to have fleshed out a proper background for the alliance, but guess we just have to accept it!

Perhaps, they do not consider Ishqi-Mayank relationship worthy of a detailed or even a proper background for that matter. They know most of their audience is only going to care about Ishqi and Ahaan so they won't bother.😆

I don't really think so. There are many match-makers who bring alliances from random families. Suman might have given her preferences to a match-maker and she found Ishqi. It is very common in arranged marriage system. They enquire about girl and all, do a proper background checks on girls before sending an alliance. I m sure Suman knows quite a bit about Ishqi. She would know how Ishqi handles house, takes financial responsibility etc.

I agree and Suman aunty is not like a typical mil types and not class conscious.. to me it makes it believable..Suman must know a great degree about Ishqi.. she was always defending Idhqi everytime there was an issue during family functions saying“ you guys have wrong impression abt Ishqi.. she is very gud n responsible girl”

That's probably one way of explaining it, I suppose. 😊

Not sure a match-maker would be able to do that much of detailed research on a girl in a short period of time (you only really know a person when you spend time with them and everyone is generally on their best behaviour in neutral settings), but it's the best possible explanation under the circumstances.
