I'm 50 pages in and so far, I haven't been feeling very motivated to read this book. I read somewhere that this book has a dreamlike quality to it, and I thought I'd like it because Rebecca was like that and I loved it, but try as I might, I'm not being able to connect with the characters, or care about what happens to them. There are more similes and metaphors than there is actual story here, and I feel like I'm not patient enough to go through it.

I can see why some people would love it and others might not. I don't personally love or hate it, but I feel indifferent to the story and its characters.

What are your thoughts so far, if any of you have started reading?

I haven’t started it as yet but will do so soon. Murakami’s writing is not for everyone. His writing style is very different from most authors. I liked his books Norwegian Wood and Men Without Women but that’s also because they were in the more regular space. I think reading Murakami is an acquired taste. Personally, I will be surprised if I end up liking Sputnik Sweetheart. It’s said to be a good introduction to murakami’s writing, so let’s see.
