Do you support RJ's sacrifice in Aashiqui 2?

RJ committed suicide at the end of the movie because he didn't want to become a burden in Aarohi's life.

When he overhears her conversation with Saigal (Mahesh Thakur's character) the night before dying, he realizes that Aarohi is going to destroy her life for him.

He knew that even if he could get over his alcohol addiction one day, it would take a long time, and Aarohi would stall her life and career for him until he comes back. His worst fear which was the prediction made by the man sitting in the bar made in the movie, was that she would end up becoming his nurse slash maid. He didn't want Aarohi to end up like him.

He committed suicide to free Aarohi from the relationship. So in the end falling in love with Aarohi just fast-forwarded his fate.

Hopeless romantics would not support what RJ did in the movie. But in reality it's not at all easy to be in a relationship with an addict, and Aarohi didn't want to accept this fact because she was blinded by love.

Wish he went to rehabilitation center, wish he believed in himself that he could be alright...Nothing is impossible, isn't it? Why did he think it was impossible for him to recover?

Wish he didn't fake it the last day.

But, I don't know. May be it was the right thing to do? His life, his wish right? He was so miserable in his last days, death freed him from his mental anguishes?

Honestly, I was hoping till the last minute that he doesn't doe, even though my cousin brother gave me the spoiler that he dies.

Becuase Arohi had invested her life in him and he decided that the best way to get her on track was to die becuase he can't sort his shit out. It was as if he dismissed her efforts, even thought it was all about her till his very last breath.

Yes, their relationship was a mess, but the two were in love and chances are, they would have found their happy ending.

It was not a "sacrifice", his character was severely depressed, an addict and an alcoholic. Addicts don't usually have the best self-esteem and in this case he clearly thought of himself as a waste of space. With or without Aarohi, he would have had the same end. I would argue that because of meeting her, he perhaps hung on for as long as he did. The film starts off with him depressed and checked out from his life.

This film is a remake of the Hollywood classic A Star is Born which has in itself been remade many times, latest was in 2019 with Bradley Cooper. All versions have this in common.

Tbh, I don’t understand the romanticisation of suicide and such a relationship.

I understand where he was coming from. The one person who was really able to help him to fight against the darkness that was residing inside him, ( he practically was the one to help Arohi build up her career ) he didn't want to be the reason of her downfall, to see her getting drown into that darkness, didn't want to see her becoming something he never wished to become. Like, someone mentioned, his worst fear was what the guy from the bar said, coming true. (Which kinda happened, Arohi did it out of love but he thought, she deserves better)

Taking life is never a solution but sometimes, It's too much to handle & the person who understands is the one going through it. It's easy to judge or talk but hard to deal with such reality.

Not just Arohi, he deserved better too.
