None of the original films- of which Ashique 2 is a frame by frame copy- show that he actually did it "for" her. He was severely depressed and an addict and that was the reason. In fact in 2019's A Star is Born, Bradley Cooper's character has this end in mind from the beginning, meeting Lady Gaga just delays the inevitable.
