I know A.R. Rahman composed it but what the heck...it wasn't the best by a long margin. Albums better than Lagaan IMO:

1. Tum Bin

2. Kasoor

3. Much Kuch Kehna Hai

4. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

5. Gadar

6. Chori Chori Chupke Chupke

7. Pyaar Tune Kya Kıya

8.Hum Ho Gaye Aapke

9. Yaadein

10. Asoka

11. Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein

Lagaan if anything would be 12'th on the list. It's DEFINITELY not the best album, even if A.R. Rahman composed it, it wasn't even among A.R. Rahman's best!!!

In fact, A.R. Rahman also composed Zubeida that year which was a better album

Sorry to spam, but this song is superior to every song in Lagaan album!

Wow, I didn't realize 2001 had so many good music albums. Lagaan definitely wouldn't be my top 5 of 2001.

2000s were are a time when there wasn't a dearth of good music in Bollywood and every other album had MULTIPLE great songs.

While I love AR Rahman's music, many of his Filmfare awards for best music are undeserved, and Lagaan is one of them. Same goes for Saathiya (the album is superb, but he was just using the songs from the Tamil version), when that year the award should have gone to devdas or raaz.
