This is an appreciation post for Shakuni, from Mahabharat. 😃
Yukti kapat chhal from Mahabharat. - YouTube
Mere bachhe, shakuni toh hamesha chal ulta hi chalta hai. Asli khel toh abh shuru huya hai.
One of the craftiest and devious villains of all times, Shakuni demonstrated what it means to keep friends close and enemies closer. He loathed Dhritarashtra and his hundred sons, yet he kept them under his close watch in order to destroy them, and avenge them for the death of his family.
A master mastermind, first he gained Dhritarashtra's trust, then eventually sowed the first seeds of hatred and war in the minds of young Kauravas by molding their beliefs and making them hate the Pandavas. He knew how this hated would destroy Hastinapur, and he kept fanning its flames to keep his revenge alive.
He conjured the devious scheme of the infamous game of dices, where he used dices that were made with the bones of his dead father, to snatch the Pandavas' kingdom and humiliate them. While the Kauravas gloated in Pandava's humiliation and defeat, Shakuni kept leading the princes towards an inevitable war that will destroy both sides with his usual cunning.
A bone-chilling deed by a cunning and intelligent man like Shakuni, who was so loyal to his own family that he ended up destroying his sister's family and kingdom. Shakuni did not live to see the outcome of the war, he was killed on the 18th day by Sahadeva. But he had seen enough to know that his revenge had succeeded. His revenge couldn't help him though in any way. He was destroyed by the very war whose hatred he had created and fanned for years.
Kudos to the iconic villain Shakuni from the epic Mahabharat, and Praneet Bhat, the actor who played it on Star Plus. 👏 Shakuni's dangerous smirk, one-eyed vision and limp walk will continue to jolt shivers down the spine of its viewers.
