Chapter 5

P - Ask reddy to prepare food as per this chart and Raghav's food I will prepare myself. And before everything remove all the alcohol from the house. I don't want to see any alcohol anywhere.

F - Ok Pallavi Ji. Anything else?

P - No and get the medicines which doctor prescribed. Some were missing in the lot.

F - Ok Pallavi Ji.

Raghav was listening to everything sitting on his bed. He didn't showed any reaction on the news that Pallavi never filed the divorce papers. Drive back home was also mostly silence with some frustrating honking by Pallavi. Once Farhad left, Pallavi turned her attention to Raghav.

P - U take some rest. I will get some soup and then u have to take medicine.

Raghav noded in affirmative and she left the room to get things done. Dinner was quite. HHs were happy to see Pallavi back, so was Farhad. But Raghav didn't reacted in anyway. He followed whatever was instructed by her without any question and then both went to their rooms for the night.

It was third quarter of night and Pallavi still was turning sides every other minute as the sleep seems like a distant thought. She get up to check on Raghav and saw him standing to his window gazing moon.

P - Star gazing is good activity but not when u have multiple fracture and cracked skull. Why are u not sleeping?

He kept his silence for sometime watching the night sky. She saw him and then joined him in star gazing. After a while he broke that void.

R - Can I ask something?

He said Still gazing to the sky.

P - Sure.

R - Why do u like pain?

P - Sorry... didn't get u.

R - Clearly u enjoy pain. I hurt u at each and every point. I ruined ur business. I ruined ur family. I ruined ur character. I even forced u to marry me against ur will. Still u are here. So clearly u r a masochist Right?meaning...

P - A person who enjoys pain. I know English Raghav.

She said looking towards him.

R - Yes so why are u here?

He looked at her for an answer.

P - Clearly it has been a hard hit to ur head. U are talking sense today.

R - Yes it seems. So answer me.. y r u here Pallavi?

She took a long breath as the question seems to knock on the corners of her heart which she herself don't want to visit. She gave him a look and asked.

P - Why u didn't apologized? I can see it in ur eyes. I saw it in ur eyes that day too when u were signing the papers. U had a lot to say but u didn't. y?

And there was again the silence of night and both turned to night sky for silence.

R - Because i knew. I knew u already forgave me. Long before that day. I never saw the anger u said in ur eyes. I saw disgust. I saw questions. I saw disappointment but never anger. U didn't hated me for what I did. U were disappointed with me for what I did. I failed u, multiple times. U gave me chance after chance but I ruined everything everytime. I know u can't hate me. Sorry... u can't hate anyone. Thats not who u r even when I wronged u at each step.

P - But u could have apologized. This what u did to urself for so long, u didn't had any right to do. Y u didn't said sorry? Is ur ego that big to right the wrongs.

R - No. Its not ego. Because with u, it can never be ego.

P - Then what stopped u from making everything right?

He looked towards her. Her eyes already looking him for answers. He looked in them and sighed.

R - I didn't apologized because I knew u will accept it because thats the person u are and after that I will hurt u again because thats the person I am.

The night was dark but some light was making its way with moon and stars. They turned back to the sky and flowing wind noise filled the silence.

The night was dark but some light was making its way with moon and stars. They turned back to the sky and flowing wind noise filled the silence.

This was so poigant yet so beautiful and sweet. It was heart breaking to see Pallavi's and Raghav's state especially how Raghav hurt himself delibrately, his agony...this was full of emotions which made me teary.

it was so nice to see confident Pallavi and how she showed her eyes to Farhad to prevent him from speaking truth.

You potrayed their sadness so well

Chapter 6

P - Good Morning Raghav.

She said removing blanket and getting down from chair where she fell asleep while talking yesterday night.

Raghav turned back from the window towards her.

R - Good morning. One of these days u need to start sleeping on bed. Its really getting a bad habit of sleeping on couch.

P - And u should start sleeping, on bed, couch or that damn window which u seems to like a lot. Seriously its what 3rd straight night. How will u get better? U need rest.

R - Yes i am practicing on sleeping while talking as u have made this room ur permanent abode. I will take some rest. Don't worry.

He smirked.

P - Was that sarcasm I hear? Do u really just had a smile.

Raghav straightened his face.

U need to control urself. Don't mistake for a second she is here by choice. U forced her here.

He reiterated his thought and the smile disappeared.

She noticed that change and very well knew what he was thinking. For past few nights they have marathon chats every night. It usually starts with star gazing but ends in Pallavi falling asleep on couch. She thought one more night wasted, will try to make him understand again tonight. She tried getting up but her legs were numb. Feeling irritated she called Raghav.

P - Raghav help please... I can't get up. Some support.

And extended her hands.

He kept standing there. No motion. She called again,

P - Hello...some help.

He kept standing there. On the third call, he moved.

R - Put ur legs on the table.

P - What? Y?

R- Do it.

She moved her legs on table. He took a side cloth and start rubbing her feet.

P - Are u avoiding touching me? I take shower everyday u know.

She tried to joke but felt strange. Now on second thought he clearly have avoided any contact and even went out of his way to do that from the time she came back.

R - No. Its just there might be dust. So. Don't overthink. I need to go to office now, will be back by evening.

P - But...

And he left the conversation and exited the room. She felt something was clearly wrong and all his guilt is making him into something that is not Raghav Rao or a person to say.

Rest of the day passed. They had dinner and the next night meeting was planned to commence. It was windy outside and storm was forecasted. They took their places. She on the couch. Him on his window. But before the meeting could commence there came a thunderous noise.

R - It was really big spark palla...

And he turned to see her on couch but it was empty. He looked around and she was in a corner of bed shivering badly.

R - Pallavi... What happened? It was just the lightening.

P - I..I have fear of lightening.

She said in her tumbling voice.

P - Please do something. Please...

R - Don't worry. I will do something.

He said but realized what can he actually do. He can't control weather. He tried to think and just then another thunder sounded. "Raghav..." shouted Pallavi. And suddenly she felt two powerful arms covering her.

R - Nothing will happen to u Saadi ka Dukaan. I won't let anything hurt u. U are safe. Don't worry.

And he held her almost shielding her.

R - Nothing can hurt u. Nothing will ever hurt u. I won't let it happen. It won’t happen again.

She saw his eyes almost guarding against invisible enemy. Concerned but firm. She saw those and just tried reaffirming him.

P - I know Raghav.

He looked at her. He saw her eyes. He saw the trust in her eyes. She meant what she said. She believe this. She believes me. I won't hurt her. She know I won’t hurt her. She believes me. She really do believe me.

He felt burden lifting of him. He held her. He knew she is safe here and she also feels this.

She is safe with me. He mumbled for himself.

Both sit there between lightning and thunder but it didn't matter. After few hours he dropped. The burden finally gave way to sleep. She kept his head on her lap and he holding her hand promising u will be safe. And then another lightning strikes and his grip on her hand tightened. He will protect her at any cost. She saw towards sky from window and mouthed "Thank you". He finally had his sleep. She was safe. He was safe.
