The way they weaved the story even around sooraj's masterchef competition was appreciable. And like I mentioned sooraj is one of the best MLs. The jodi didn't get the hype because they don't resonate with youth with all tashan and passion.

Adding to that, no show, especially on ITV and on this channel can be completely devoid of patriarchal notions, but from what ive read (i did not follow the show), they made an honest attempt and you've got to give it up for them for atleast trying to bring a different perspective.

I literally couldn't bear the day to day drama and abuse in each episodes and then next day the FL is back to ML eating panipuri and laughing around forgetting every thing. 😕 The normalization of Virat's behavior is what made me quit the show altogether.

I don't get it too yaar, like how? My common sense does not allow me to understand that😕

Ive seen people justify him saying he is nuanced. Like no, there is no nuance, its just a character (badly-written) to suit the sadistic taste of the audience.

Yeah true.. This is certainly not bashing. I just said it in humour. I am watching this show almost after 8 years after the other show.. I will get back to my other form of entertainment. ITV is not for that.. Most of the MLs turn disappointing and FL mahaan.. Both kind of turns me down. Here for now I am staying here for the FL, I know that would be just for a while.. She is on her way to become mahaan.

Asmi 🤗

You think like me....disappointing MLs and Mahaan FLs are such a turn off for me too. I can’t stand them. The problem is that ‘FL ki mahaanta’ has become a trope - it is not a unique traitor of a character but a necessary trait of every FL.😔

I know, its not just abusive males in some sense are problematic for me, if Mahaan FLs are..so frustrating to watch...All males almost are abusive on ITV and all females mahaan..😵

I would not call DABH a progressive show - I remember quitting it with disgust. The ML was shown to be progressive but the FL’s relationship with her in-laws reeked of Stockholm syndrome . The solution to any conflict was always suppressing FL’s feelings and feeding the ego of the mother-in-law. I’ve seen a few Pakistani shows. They are rarely revolutionary- but I do respect them for the fact things are not whitewashed - patriarchy is plain, not hidden under a ‘progressive’ ML, an egotistical mil is not shown as an epitome of virtue. ITV is shamelessly insincere.

You are right, it's absolutely ridiculous that people say that a work of fiction does not affect people. I've studied media and psychology and I can absolutely say that so-called entertainment shows do affect people.

Yes agreed. It robs the FL of her human-ness. Why should an FL have to be mahaan in the first place? Why can’t she be just be a good person who also has her self-interest at heart?

Definitely we will need a second thread because makers have decided to copy paste the original version-KD.

Virat is going to mess up if we go by that version!
