like I said, I hadn’t seen the episode yet and was going by the written episode and what everyone else was talking about. But I’ve seen the episodes now and I don’t like that Alia isn’t the owner of DDS anymore. It’s basically like Sarang and Alia switched places in terms of their financial situation. And are they only showing this to prove Alia wrong when she initially offered Sarang money to leave her and the babies alone? I’m perfectly fine with the kids reuniting the parents, it’s been done millions of time but it’s still cute depending on the way it’s executed. But it feels like Alia’s character growth is getting sacrificed for this plot and I don’t like it. Even the recent episode showed flashback of her during childhood and she talked about being bitter about things and she was slowly dealing with that but with this plot, everything she’s worked for, emotionally and financially, is gone.

I feel very bad for Alia as it seems she has lost the most emotionally, practically & financially & despite her mistakes it is unfair.

All that she has worked for her whole life is gone - agreed money is not everything & while in herself she is actually calmer emotionally, its sad to see her so alone & being degraded by that so-called investor. Definitely do not understand how she is an employee but some kind of fast one pulled on her while she was at a low point.

exactly, the punishment needs to fit the crime you know. Obviously Alia is not perfect and she's made mistakes but stripping her off her life's accomplishments seems very harsh. I haven't necessarily hated post-leap episodes yet but just the essence of it leaves a bad taste.

I know right?!! Its a bitter pill, especially as Alia was the only real professional woman shown on itv & to see her brought down is painful.

I loved the different power dynamics of the show with a FL successful In her OWN right, & a struggling male lead & neither of them obnoxious

i agree. I don't know if you've ever watched Yeh Hai Mohabbatein but they had the FL being a dentist, which was great but we saw maybe a total of 5 episodes where she. was actually doing her job. And even then some episodes were solely to further the plot and not necessarily to show the FL's individuality and character. In this show, we've consistently seen Alia make decisions for herself, for her company, and saw her hidden softness when dealing with her employees. That was what made Alia so different than others, that she was able to stand up for herself and be her own boss.

Agreed, and a lot of the times if the roles are switched, characteristics are also switched but just harshness in the female and sweetness in the male, but i liked that Sarang had his own bitterness with his father he was dealing with and Alia was trying to hard not to give into the bitterness because of her childhood. I know we need to see more episodes to get the full picture, but im frustrated with how the story is moving.

You all complaining, I hope you DO understand that because of TRP game, best of the best storyline has to be chopped or changed just to keep thriving in the game! The modern story did NOT bode well with the illiterate, narrow minded rural crowd, so to keep the story afloat, sustain the pressure from the Channel, that was to make sure the story is favorable among the majority crowd so that their TRP increases, they were FORCED to change the original storyline :( otherwise the show would be in danger and would be taken off air, due to low TRPs! This is one of the main reasons why the story got butchered like this and so did Alia’s character.

But if you think about it, no matter how strong a person may be, or how disciplined, having their walls taken down like that and then getting hurt, can break anyone apart! Sarang was the reason Alia could heal from her childhood wounds of neglect and abandonment! Sarang came and gave her a family, so much love and closeness that she couldn’t think of anything but her, him and their little family! Maybe she went bankrupt and had to give away her company? Life and worlds changed for both her and Sarang, character changes happened for both of them! Please don’t compare the two piles over just couple of episodes! In the story, 6 YEARS have passed! Alia seems to be doing everything herself, alone! And that itself has made her so much more vulnerable! So character change there, makes total sense!! She is basically broken inside! A once self made businesswoman, is now a mother, an employee at the very business, she once ran! Sarang on the other hand, new Mathura has no scope, therefore he moved to Mumbai in the first place! Now he has thus, as thus, focused all his energy into building a niche for himself, but not boasting of anything, at the same time! He has hardened over time and isn’t the same jolly golly guy he used to be, 6 years back! Pain has changed him, he feels betrayed. Whatever misunderstandings they have, still yet to be cleared! Sarang always had talent and at any opportunity he was going to shine, and upon continuing with the opportunities that came to him, he rose to fame!

I feel for character growth, there has to be opportunities presented, and there needs to be the right climate for the growth to happen! Alia had many many setbacks that brought her to her knees, so she chose to grab what she is given now and make a home from that. Emotionally she isn’t in that same phase as before, that made her build herself into a mogul! True, she wasn’t the emotional kind, but she was always emotional, she just didn’t show it! Sarang broke down all her walls, she patched up with her mother, so she is now back to her equilibrium! Her love for her son keeps her going! She was betrayed by her own father, the boy she loved the most, broke her too.. she went through a lot.. but still she is here. She has no ill feelings for Sarang as she knows her dad is responsible for what happened.. but she is still hurt knowing Sarang left her, without understanding her!

So, I say, give this story some time! This is a new story now.. let’s not compare this with its previous story! If you want to save this show, and think you can give the story, the directors, producers and writers a chance, please keep watching it! We all know how we would have liked the story to be, but understand why they needed to change it.. it was to SAVE the show, from getting axed! There is STILL scope for growth! Let’s all just hang in there, and understand the story, as it plays out :)

This isn’t an assumption, but facts!! Google how this show was given an ultimatum by the channel!! Don’t you get it?? Showing a woman independent, living her life on her own terms and having a baby through IVF isn’t a concept the uneducated sector of Indian society can handle !! To keep the audience appeased, they HAD to change it around a bit!

Why do you keep saying they did role reversal of the leads??! Sarang was hurt by his dad, but his dreams were his reason to live and his mother’s love and support kept him going! Alia was a breathe of fresh air for him, an inspiration to follow his dreams!! He was like a curious loveable child, who spread his love through his words and writing everywhere!!

Alia always was hurt, first Coz of her mother’s abandonment and then her dad not being there for her! She only relied on her best friend for support, and became focused on having her life in order, making a name for herself where there was no room for emotions!! So she had hardened herself to survive!

Both have their own reasons for character changes! You can’t say they switched it up! Sarang has major grudges that he is still hanging onto! and Alia’s grudges were resolved, she already has cut her dad out and so is now living in peace!

She hasn’t become submissive, and also we honestly don’t know the whole story yet, what conspired and how things got to be the way they are now. So please don’t judge anything or anyone so soon!

I am not giving up or even complaining as I do not think the characters have fundamentally changed: to me it looks like natural changes based on the pain they have suffered due to the situations & betrayals ( real or perceived) As you say Sarang has hardened because he feels Alia betrayed him.

Frankly TRP or not the storyline seems logical & consistent in many ways.
Yes as a woman I do feel sad that Alia’s position has been downgraded & she is shown as struggling to manage work & bring up her child purely for the sake of the message. But it is plausible for the drama & story & the characters remain true to themselves.

To me the interesting part is how they are still able to communicate & understand each other under the terrible lies they must have been told about each other. Gradually these will be exposed & the misunderstandings cleared away so they can see each other. I still have hope this will be well done, not dragged over 100 episodes like other shows

I did google it and literally found nothing to link TRP to change in storyline but if you insist I'll take it.

It definitely seems like they did role reversal because initially we had Sarang not being able to achieve his dream of becoming a writer and now Alia is the one without her dream. Before Sarang used to financially struggle and now Alia does. Sarang was away from his family, esp his dad and now Alia is. Alia is NOT living in peace at all. She just had to be satisfied with what she has or else she wouldn't be able to handle her situation, exactly like how Sarang was doing initially. And now Sarang, despite achieving success he is not content with his life, just like Alia wasn't in the beginning of the show. It's an exact parallel. I understand there are some nuances for sure, but generally they are similar to each other from how they started.

I understand that there is tons of information we're unaware of and like I said I actually do like how they are going about this, but all I wanted was Alia to still be in charge of DDS. If only that had stayed the same, I wouldn't have minded the rest. But like you said the audience may not like a woman having her own things that doesn't have to do with her partner. From the start, Alia wanted to do things her own way, and you can call her stubborn but at the end of the day, she wanted to be a single mother and do it independently. And yes, I'm glad she found Sarang and could share everything with him, however, his priorities had always been becoming a writer. I'm glad he got what he wanted, but right now it seems like it may have been at the expense of Alia. And it may very well be a misunderstanding and we'll know more later, but I for one love talking about things at every stage.

And I never said Alia was submissive, she's still the same in some regards but like you said, we'll know more as we see more episodes.

I agree with you. I don't think it's completely inconsistent. There are just some parts that are really frustrating because Alia shouldn't have to be either a successful business owner or a great mother, she can be BOTH. And until now, we were seeing that she could very well be both, even before Sarang became a real choice for her partner. But something drastic must have happened for Alia to be struggling s hard.

Yeah I didn't think about the communication part like that but you're right, I love that they are still proving comfort for each other. It's really nice to see.
