TBH I feel like it also has to do with the fact that KV emotes it really well I think. For example I think that KRPKAB also emphasized Dev's pain really well and it was easy to get attached to his character but it's rare to see. Usually I feel like they just throw some sort of heartbreak to justify why the ML is an douche. But here the emotional depth is well captured and the moments don't feel artificial or forced when they show them. In another show it is absolutely possible that we would have seen him go off on her and then they would have just thrown this scene in to make us be like aww but he's broken. I think in this show they struck that balance really well where it doesn't feel like they are showing us his emotional vulnerability just to whitewash him or as a cop out of actual growth!
This is soooo true. The ability of the actor to actually emote and convey those feelings without dialogue is a huge get for CVs. They really can build on that.
