One of the times I felt they would've moved towards an emotional hug was after he apologized for holding her hand. Sai held his hand very differently..and when they wiped each other's tears, in other serials, it would have led to a hug. But here, Virat was very conscious that he had hurt her. And that was also the right thing to do..or right way to behave.

So many things about their distance makes sense. But yes, they can get more comfortable now. Otherwise it looks like we're stuck in one spot.
