Dang. He’s totally right. I don’t have a clue what song that is. Never heard it in my entire life till today. Sounds very ordinary. It speaks volumes that even Udit was shocked to have received a National Award for the song. The inner workings of Bollywood’s music industry are just crazy.

I question the credibility of every award. For the life of me, I will never understand how a phenomenal singer like KK is still considered underrated. He has such a beautiful and powerful voice, yet Bollywood continues to sideline him.

He has too much pride to lobby for awards (buying award is frowned upon, campaigning for awards is common practice everywhere) but he doesn't have an issue coming out afterwards to put another respected singer down saying who even knows that song and what is that song compared to my two songs? Seems rude.

Not a fan of Saathiya or the Udit song. Bhagat Singh songs were incredible but got no love at the awards. Compared to that I don't personally find saathiya deserving. It did win awards that year though so I understand others loved it. So he is saying he deserved the award for best singer that year because his song won awards and was more popular? Last I checked that was not the criteria for National awards. There have been many other times where mainstream awards absolutely overlooked beautiful musical pieces and National award picked them up. They often award songs most people don't know about because this award tries to focus on quality rather popularity. Then he is upset that media didn't cover it. Don't know man. Either you really pissed off your music media or music media didn't think your saathiya was a deserving winner for the national award.

Having said that I do think his songs in Bhagat Singh and few others like des mere by Sukhwinder deserved all the awards and more.
