Not a fan of Saathiya or the Udit song. Bhagat Singh songs were incredible but got no love at the awards. Compared to that I don't personally find saathiya deserving. It did win awards that year though so I understand others loved it. So he is saying he deserved the award for best singer that year because his song won awards and was more popular? Last I checked that was not the criteria for National awards. There have been many other times where mainstream awards absolutely overlooked beautiful musical pieces and National award picked them up. They often award songs most people don't know about because this award tries to focus on quality rather popularity. Then he is upset that media didn't cover it. Don't know man. Either you really pissed off your music media or music media didn't think your saathiya was a deserving winner for the national award.
Having said that I do think his songs in Bhagat Singh and few others like des mere by Sukhwinder deserved all the awards and more.
saathiya vocally is a difficult song compare to the song udit got an award for ..perhaps in that context ....infact udit got another national award for not so great song either which was Yeh taara woh taara har taara ....and how i dont know kishore kumar didnt got any national award not even for zindagi ka safar
