Hello everyone!!

So, the idea of this story was planted in my head by Shree (nycgal) after the 4Mar episode...and somehow I could not stop myself from writing this.

I am still extremely new to writing stories, so please drop in your feedback & suggestions. Hope you enjoy this piece!

Purvi came into the bedroom after a long day of studies & work. She sat at the dresser, feeling too exhausted to even lift her head.

Suddenly she felt a soft touch at the nape of her neck...she looked up and saw Vir standing behind her. Vir ran his fingers thru her hair, gently massaging her scalp. Pulling her hair to one side, he loosened the heavy jewellery she wore and very slowly took off one piece at a time, careful not to entangle them in her hair. As he gave her shoulders a quick rub, Vir could see Purvi's eyes drooping with sleep. He slowly pulled her to her feet and sent her off to change into her nightclothes, ignoring her protests that she could sleep in these clothes just as well.

Grumbling to herself about dominating husbands, Purvi dragged herself off to the bathroom to get changed. When she came out she saw Vir sitting on the bed with a glass of warm milk in his hand.

"Chal aa ja", said Vir,"Chup chaap yo doodh pee le. Tu ne khana bhi theek se na khaya."

Purvi moved to take the glass but stumbled and fell against the bed. Kicking her sandals off, she turned towards Vir, only to find him staring at her very sternly. Purvi squirmed as Vir pointedly looked at her high heels and then back at her.

Vir, "Kitni baar tanne bola hai, ki yo heels wali jooti mat pehena kar?"

Purvi pouted cutely at Vir and said, "Hum jaante hai aapne bahut baar kaha hai, par hume heels pasand hai. Waise hi hamari height kam hai, heels bhi nahi pehene toh kitne chote lagte hai hum!"

Vir, "Arre par yo tere peeth ke liya achcha na hai, jaanti hai na tu?"

Purvi looked at Vir with puppy eyes. Vir sighed, he could never resist this look. Purvi smiled to herself, she knew she had won this round!

Vir, "Ghani ziddi hai tu, koi kehena maanti na hai. Chal aaram se baith ib". Vir propped up the cushions for Purvi to sit back and handed her the glass of milk. After getting Purvi comfortable, Vir sat cross legged at the end of the bed, placing her feet on his lap.

"Arre yeh aap kya kar rahehai?", Purvi tried to extract her feet from Vir's grasp, only to have him tighten his hold. Purvi continued to struggle till Vir mock-glared at her and said, "Ib tu hil na bandh karegi, ya manne laat maar kar hi shaant hogi?"

Purvi stopped struggling and Vir started massaging her feet. Purvi moaned in pleasure, her aching feet relaxing under Vir's gentle ministrations.

Vir, "Tu sara sara din bhaag-daudkarti rehti hai...ghar sambhalti hai, college jati hai, bachchon ka aur mera khayal rakhti hai, par ek minute bhi apne liya na nikaalti tu. Isiliye maine soch liya hai ki ib se tera dhyaan main rakhoonga. Samjhi, chakkarghanni?"

Purvi looked at him adoringly and smiled. This man never ceased to amaze her. In the early days of their marriage, he had been so cold & distant, and prone to unwarranted bursts of anger. Everyone in the family was afraid of him, even his own children. He lived thru each day mechanically, bringing happiness to others by giving them justice but not allowing even a shred of joy to enter his heart. But underneath his hard & uncompromising exterior, was a heart of gold. And finally at the end of the day, he was a hurt & broken soul, who was unable to move on from the loss of his love. Purvi's heart ached for him, she wanted to gather him in her arms and heal his broken soul! She vowed to bring love and happiness back into his life and to protect him even from himself!

Vir looked up to see Purvi staring at him. He raised an eyebrow enquiringly, but she just shook her head and smiled. Vir continued to massage her dainty little feet and felt her body relaxing. She seemed to be in a reflective mood, so he also did not break the silence. Anyway, they had reached a stage in their relationship, where filling up silences with inane chatter was not necessary, they were very comfortable in each other's presence.

Vir sneaked a quick peek and realised that Purvi had fallen asleep. He continued to look at her...she looked so young and peaceful in her sleep, very different from her hyperactive state during the day! She WAS very young, she was impulsive at times, drew him spare with her insistence in putting others' before her own self, but he still wouldn't have her any other way. Because her youth and lack of experience was balanced with her maturity and integrity, she was kind and loving and pure! After Sakshi's death he had locked his heart away, refusing to let anyone close to him. The guilt of Sakshi's death was so heavy on his mind that he had decided that he didn't deserve happiness or peace. But somewhere down the line, this chit of a girl managed to worm her way into not only his life but also his heart. She had warmed his cold heart and taught it to beat again, taught him to live again!

Vir got up slowly from the bed and settled Purvi down comfortably. He pulled the covers up, tucking them around her. As he made to move away, Purvi turned and held on to his hand, he tried to extract his hand but he feared waking her up. He hesitated for a minute, but then sat down besides her. Purvi snuggled into his side, never letting go of his hand...and for once, Vir did not think too much, he just marvelled at the feeling of contentment emanating in his heart and decided to give life a second chance!
