There's age discrimination in almost every field and it affects men though less than women.

In movies it's more lopsided than in other industries but it's also different when you're an established actor v starting out.

Now with the success of his films in particular URI it matters less.

When he was fighting for roles did he want to be the new guy in his mid 20s or the guy who's hung around not getting much of anywhere at 30 even though his father is in the business?

It affects how the media write about them. Did he then want to be compared in the progress of his career with Kartik, Tiger etc or with Ranbir and Ranveer?

Also note Ranbir is closer in age to Shahid than Ranveer and debuted in between them but the media groups the first two together and they and Ranbir's PR still position him as a young actor even though he's 38 and debuted in 2007. If the media, PR and the industry didn't care about age there wouldn't be all these groupings and comparisons between age groups.

Or look at Pratik Gandhi who just smashed it in Scam 1992. He's 40 and has been acting professionally for 15 years and yet his age is being reported by some parts of media as 31. Why? Probably because different doors would open for him at 31 rather than 40 even with Scam 1992 as his calling card.

This. Just recently found out that Pankaj Tripathi is supposedly younger than HR? 😳
