He miss his mother and the only person who cares for him that much is Vashma. As we know every man sees his second mother in his wife, Vashma is THAT for Uday even without any legal marriage. For everything on earth Uday's 'Go to' person is Vashma. So their bond is not a mere crush, infatuation or typical teenage love it's much more than that and only the thought of losing it is enough to make Uday rebellious. Even without the marriage angle, he would have taken a chance after such a life or death situation, because he saw how firmly she was holding onto him and trying to protect him even in such a state where both of them could have been killed if anything went wrong. Muslim Vashma, who could have otherwise run to safety, did not care about her life being compromised for a Hindu Uday, and his feelings are exactly the same. Uday would never leave Vashma. Something changed that night, which changed their dynamics and made Uday even more confident that he needs to do something to ensure he never loses sight of her again.
