All of us know that republic day is celebrated on the occasion of the 'Birth of the Constitution of India', but do we know why the constitution was born from the womb of mother India/Bharat Mata? And who is the father of Constitution? How it has been drafted? Let us know it here
The country, named India, had acquired independence on 15th August 1947, but still, the people of India were starving from food, helpless for shelter & clothes, and the basic necessities of life. Overcoming such shortcomings were only possible with the presence of a legal framework, rules and regulations presenting the country. So, with this purpose on 26th November 1949 after 2 years, 11 months and 17 days, the longest Constitution of the World had been adopted and enforced in the power with the fundamental rights and directive principles on 26th January 1950.
The father of the Constitution of India, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, was the chairman of the drafting committee, who drafted the Constitution. The Constitution of India declares a preamble, whose credit goes to the first Chief Justice of India, Dr. B. N. Rau. He introduced it with terms like justice, equality, liberty and fraternity along with sovereign which meant the parliament, socialist i.e. goals of democracy, secular, which has no religion but people can follow and democratic.
The constitution of India has been the longest written constitution of the world, which consisted of 243 articles and 13 schedules which were transformed into 395 articles and 8 schedules after discussions, debates and amendments. It was drafted in two languages, Hindi and English. It was adopted from the Constitution of America, Ireland, France, UK and many more.
The Constitution of India was not typed, yet handwritten by Prem Behari Narain Raizada and published in Dehradun. It took nearly three years to write down. On 24 January 1950, 284 members of the Constituent Assembly signed the Indian Constitution at the Constitution Hall, now known as the Central Hall of Parliament, in New Delhi.
Finally after signing by all the members it came into enforcement, and we, the people of India, with brotherhood, celebrate this occasion as republic day on 26th January.
