Hello everybody.😊

Nepotism is favoritism that is granted to relatives in various fields, including business, politics, entertainment, sports etc...

It is critised in entertainment field specially , because many good actors have to struggle, while starkids are getting lots of work, just because of their relatives.😒

In Pakistani drama industry too .. we saw many starkids being a part of the industry since a long time. Some of them proved themselves , and are liked even more than their parents and relatives , such as : Faisal Quraishi and Fahad Mustafa .

We have also few star families too like : Sheikh family which contains Javed , Saleem, Shehzaad , Moomal along with their relatives : Behroze and Shahroz Sabzwari. And Abbasi family : Shamoon Abbasi , Javeria, Anoushi , Anzala.

There are many siblings who started getting work after their elder siblings established themselves as actors like: Salman Saeed, Noor Khan , Ushna Shah .. and there are many other siblings who almost started at the same time , like : Urwa/Mawra , Sajal/Saboor , Aiman/Minal , Alishba /Syra .

This trend is getting bigger now with many newcomers from actor families stepping in the industry every year. So what do you think? Do they deserve this chance? Are starkids really favoured in Pakistani drama industry, or they are just treated like any other actors? Are there more deserving actors who get sidlined or rejected because of nepotism in the industry?

Plz share your opinions here .. 😊

Imran Ashraf's brother

I have heard about how hard working Imran was to get to where he is. He sacrificed so much; gave up comforts. He had screen presence and talent from his initial days I remember but his brother cannot act and is super boring.

If these people have the talent then sure give them a chance but if they are terrible or are unable to improve then byes!

Maybe you can start a discussion on casting couch too then. They are many who get work through that and it's more prominent that the so called nepotism debate.

Thanks for joining the discussion.😊

Yes. Bilal Ashraf is cast in supporting roles only till now, so it is fine , maybe he'll improve.😃

We can't compare both . I agree Imran Ashraf worked very hard to reach this stage. I am happy for him. His brother has quite good looks, but I am yet to warm to him.😳

I agree. Not all star relatives are talented. Many of them take it as a job , so they try their luck.. the sad reality is that there are many others who have none to mentor them, and don't even get a chance.😒

Good idea. But my informations about these things happening in Pakistani drama Industry are very little, I can only guess.🤓

They are many who get work through that and it's more prominent that the so called nepotism debate.

So you think that Nepotism doesn't exist in PDI? I respect your views.😊

I never said nepotism doesnt exist. It obviously exists but its unfair to take credit away from star kids because they too work hard. Just because they are born in a family where someone is an actor and actress, doesnt mean they shouldnt be part of the industry. Their parents, sibling, uncle, aunty e.tc would have also worked hard to give them the strong support system. But that doesnt mean they are justvbuying roles for them..

Yes they are more protected I agree, but they give the same hrs of shooting, hard work and dedication.

Casting couch is very much part of the little Pakistan industry. Some actresses have indirectly or directly hinted it too through intvs.

If nepotism is a big deal, so is casting couch because they will be actors and actresses who keep getting work based on that. I mean come on some channels and ph or even directors/ writers only take the same set of actors/ actresses again and again.

It is really unfair to those talented actors who have no celebrity in their family, they have to work hard to get into the industry whereas star kids get a free entry. And still often times they are overshadowed because of these star kids who cannot even act.

Nepotism is there in Pak industry. Its easy for star kids to enter in showbiz but still i think so that for them the initial struggle is less as they have not to pass from multiple auditions. But we can't deny that its their talent which cam give them fame. Without talent they can't exist for more time.

There are many examples of star kids who don't have a successful career because they lack the talent such as Waheed Murad son, firdous jamal son, imran asraf brother, ali zafar brother etc.

I think it comes natural for any kid to have the same job as his/her father. Actor kids are no difference. They can inherit the good looks and talent from their parents, and that's why producers are willing to cast them. Producers also want to take benfit from the parents's success can help in making viewers excited about their kids.😃 I think many of star kids work really hard. I am not denying it. But they get their first break because of their names..while others have to struggle and do tini roles only. Starkids usually start from the top, as leads or with bigger roles, comaring to their contemporories.

I see .🤓 But it will be too tough to prove it , because actors hardly talk about it. Also those actors who work for the same PH are like a camp. It is fine to work with ppl you are comfortible with. Channels and producers prefer repeating the same actors as they can manage the scheduls of their different shows if those actors are doing more than a show at the same time .😊

Thank you for joining the discussion Hinna.😊

I agree. I think it is easy for those who belong to families which worked in the industry to get a break .

Alamdaar Hussain started with Main Khayal Hoon Kisi Aur Ka , just because he was the producer's cousin. It was clear that he can't act. Aabi Khan (KRQ's son) played a big role in Laal Ishq , and showed some talent, but could he get that role had he not been a nepokid? 😕 and where is he now?!😕 Same goes with Anzala Abbasi.

I am not saying that they are bad .. but it is a bit easy for them to get roles.
