Male actors who dressup act like girls/females?

There have been several actors who have done this, including Ranbir Kapoor and others. I just find it really disturbing for some reason.

How can masculine guys act and dress up like girls, to my shock, even one of my favorite manly actors (Sunny Deol) has dressed up as a women in a movie, my God that was disturbing.

Does anyone else find this disturbing like me?

I thought Indian stage / street dramas usually have all-male casts where females roles are also played by men. At least that was what was implied in Dream girl where Ayushman's character plays seetha maiya. Things may be changed in the present with people letting their daughters / wives take part in dramas, but this male acotrs playing the part of females was a norm before TV / movie era right?

I guess you find the idea of transwomen disturbing too then.

Femmephobia.

This is a weird Desi / Indian thing, men dressing up as girls. I mean you would never see Hollywood actors do this

Not true at all - many have though probably not as many as UK actors where it's hard to find an actor who hasn't.

The first Indian movie, raja Harsihchandra had men playing women's roles too

Robert Downey In Sherlock Holmes (dressed as a woman for a scene)

Jared Leto in Dallas Buyers Club (played a trans woman)

Eddie Redmayne in The Danish Girl (played a trans woman)

and loads more, m including the actors playing trans characters becuase they too dressed as women
