Angry Indian Goddesses is a good example, but it's not considered a mainstream film.

They tried that with Veere Di Wedding in mainstrea, and look how it turned out.😆

I actually enjoyed the movie, but it was heavily trolled for setting 'wrong' examples.
Same with Four More Shots Please.

Also, Indian TV shows /daily soaps are anyways female-centric, so film directors do not think about creating female-dominating cinema unfortunately, unless it's tragedy/or cliche high school non-sense. .

I enjoy both 'Veere Di Wedding' and 'For More Shots Please' a lot.

But Indians just prefer women in adversity p0rn only, not when they have agency all the time.

Also, I find it really bizarre that Indian forums decide to censor a word like p0rnography. That is like censoring a dictionary. It is just a word referring to a certain type of content, not the content itself.

Lajja (2001) comes to mind, Manisha's character goes on a journey forming very special bonds with female characters portrayed by Madhuri, Rekha, Mahima.

Filhaal (2002): Tabu and Sushmita sen's friendship is the central point in the film.

Rani and Preity's few films had them bonding too. Albeit in unexpected circumstances.

Chandni Bar (2001), Tabu's character finds her voice with the help of all the girls she works with, particularly the one played by Ananya Kharre - it's empowering.

Anjaam (1994) and Ek Hasina Thi (2004) both show Madhuri and Urmila bonding with the women inside prison which gives them the strength to seek revenge for the wrong that was done to them.

Even in We Are Family (2010), Kajol and Kareena's characters form a special bond by the end of the film. Their last scene together in the hospital is so heartbreaking.
