Rajini Vs Big B Vs Kaka - Biggest movie Star of all time?

Rajinikanth : He has the craziest fan-following of all time in India. Only Indian movie star ever who is worshipped literally like a God. But his fanbase is mostly limited to Tamil Nadu.

Amitabh Bachchan : He had most number of fans than any Bollywood actor ever in India. But he never matched in generating the same craze among his fans and audience like Rajinikanth and Rajesh Khanna.

Rajesh Khanna : He had less craze among his fans compared to Rajinikanth but had more number of fans than him, obviously because of Bollywood having a wider audience.

On the other hand, he had most craze among audience than any Bollywood actor including Amitabh during his peak. But when it comes to number of fans, he comes second to Amitabh because of latter having more longevity in his career.

So in total number of fans of all time in India, it's Amitabh Bachchan > Rajesh Khanna > Rajinikanth.

But when it comes to loyalty, craze and devotion of those fans, it's Rajinikanth > Rajesh Khanna > Amitabh Bachchan.

Now based on which criteria, would you decide who is the biggest movie Star of all time in India?

That's true, but Rajini is also 8 years younger than Amitabh and Rajesh Khanna.

He also gets benefit because of today's technology, which can make him look young in movies.

And more importantly, Big B has been acting since 1969 from his debut movie. In his whole career, he has had only a break of a couple of years during the 90's that's it. Rajini did only 12 movies in twenty years. Five of those came in the last five years and its impact is felt on stardom. Imagine doing films like Big B? It is not a knock on Rajini, kudos to him for his extraordinary planning and sustenance of stardom.

Amitabh Bachchan is one of its kind of wonder in the history of cinema, not just India. Because it is not just movies that he is making, but he is also relevant and young directors write roles only keeping him in mind for 'central' parts. You take him out and the films won't be the same. Both (Amitabh and Rajini's) stardom is different, strictly speaking, and I personally prefer this way.

Rajesh Khanna is a flicker in comparison but when it did, it was the brightest, even if momentarily. Unfortunately, it fails the ultimate test - 'the test of time' and hence is forgotten or loses relevance.

correct answer would be Rajesh Khanna , Rajini , Amitabh.

Amitabh had fan following post his success, he earned a lot of money ...his friendship with powerful people... a story of how he became BIG and powerful...

Rajesh Khanna is a movie star success...apparantly women worshiped him...even in south back in those days ... apparantly every young woman had a photo of rajesh khanna. To get his call sheet ...it costed 1 lakh in those days.

Rajini is more of a cult figure...i have no idea of his tangiable stardom outside of south...

why? Hes still acting as hero at 67-68 and people watch it and his movies make 100 crore still on his stardom

Big B stopped acting hero at 60 and moved to character roles - his movie as hero flopped in late 50s or 60 age

Rajesh khanna had 11 movies super hit in a row which bth these do not have as hero

So all three are equal in some ways like what RK did Big B and rajni could not do 11 super hits in row and vice versa what rajni and big b did RK could not that is longetivity and what rajni is doing both RK and big b could not do act as hero at 67-68 and get 100 crores and more

Playing hero at 60-70 == stardom ??

I don't understand why people DON'T find it problematic that Rajni is still playing hero?😕

I am not trying to insult him or his stardom/fanbase. But Amitabh's success & stardom looks more real & valuable to me.

Rajesh Khanna had his time and was even brighter than Amitabh at that point, but he failed at maintaining his success. He has no legacy at this point.

Amitabh is a true star in that sense. Because he had his fair share of downfalls & struggles BUT he always bounced back. That's what makes him special.


He was also still trying hard to revive his 'hero' image in the 90s, but he ultimately reinvented himself and gave his career a new direction.

His whole life is a huge 'learning lesson' at this point.

Getting rejected & struggling in his initial days, peaking as the "angry young man" of Indian Cinema, almost losing his life while shooting, getting into love affairs, going bankrupt & surviving, reviving a declining career, venturing on TV with KBC etc etc

He has done it all, seen it all.

Big B had backing of gandhi's

RK and rajnikant had no god fathers

So their achievement is much more than Big B

If you come with recommendation letter from PM indira gandhi and have a father like harivansh rai bachchan than 10-15 flops yet you get chance after chance is no surprise for Big B

But both RK and rajnikant did not have god father or any one

So their achievement is much more than a bIg B

Big B always had relations in top to recommend him whenever he flopped to bounce back because of his family back ground and having friends on top

But RK and rajnikant did not have such family back ground yet became super stars

Its more real stardom than Big Bs
