Salman has given "highest grossing film of the year" 10 times with Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), Saajan (1991), Hum Aapke Hain Koun...! (1994), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999), No Entry (2005), Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017).

Aamir has given "highest grossing film of the year" 7 times with Dil (1990), Raja Hindustani (1996), Ghajini (2008), 3 Idiots (2009), Dhoom 3 (2013), PK (2014) and Dangal (2016).

SRK has given "highest grossing film of the year" 5 times with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Devdas (2002), Veer-Zaara (2004) and Om Shanti Om (2007).

Hrithik has given "highest grossing film of the year" 4 times with Kaho Naa.. Pyaar Hain (2000), Koi... Mil Gaya (2003), Dhoom 2 (2006) and War (2019).

Ranbir has also given "highest grossing film of the year" one time with Sanju (2018).

Akshay and Ajay were the only current Superstars, who despite being in the industry for 30 years, never dominated one single year, by giving highest grossing film in any year.

But now thanks to Corona, Ajay for the first time will be able to dominate an year. No point in waiting till end of December, as nobody can stop Tanhaji from being the highest grossing film of 2020, apart from being the only Hit film of 2020.

That leaves only poor Canadian deshbhakt who never in his career till now has given "highest grossing film of the year". Last time he came close was also way back in 2007, when Welcome was the second highest grossing film of that year.

Ranbir a superstar?

That's really interesting. I have never considered it. Not speaking for Ajay because he is not in the same rank but I guess Akshay doesn't even need a highest grosser. He is a workaholic so he is not the type of to do one large movie and then spend the whole year promoting it or living on it. He likes to move on and work. His movies tend to do well enough in the box office to always keep him at the top. I remember back in the days when SRK was ruling the box office there was that joke that Akshay makes more money than all of them and even today Akshay makes more money than all of them. Sure they all move up and down and but he has been consistent without ever giving the highest grosser. Which is amazing.

It does not really matter if he does not have a single highest grossing film ever.

In 2019 Akshay Kumar's films earned more than 700 crores in a single year.

It is the small scale Industries that are the backbone of India.
