Bhagat Singh (with Ajay Devgan not Bobby Deol)- I love that movie. Before that movie I never even heard of Bhagat Singh or the Jallianwala Massacre. It made me look at Mahatma Gandhi and the independence in a new way.
Taare Zameen Par. I don't love this like so many other did but it was such a necessary movie for my family. My mom always put so much pressure on all her children without ever trying to understand their situation. This movie came too late but it at least made her regret the way she did things.
3 idiots- In 2020 it's so predictable and cliche but when it first came out I was right at that place trying to convince my parents I didn't want to go to medical school. This movie's message that don't follow success, follow your passion and seeing Farhan say even if he lived the rest of his life making less money he would be happier was a message I needed to hear.
PK there was no message there that I already didn't know but it was still sort of eye opening to see how we all worship God but made up our own rules to do it and how scary it is when someone breaks those rules.
Udta Punjab- I didn't know Punjab had a drug problem. It made me realize how clueless I am about different regions of India beyond movies and made me look into it more.
