It's like South Indian producers and the audience don't care that much about looks, may be talent is more appreciated there. I saw Rajnikant in Chalbaaz. He was quite good in acting. Kamal Hassan also a talented actor in Appu Raja and Sadma. Sri Devi and Jaya Pradha are so beautiful. South Indians have their own charming personality.

But Kamal Hassan is fair complexioned and so are Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu and Nagarjuna. While in North Ajay,SRK, Amitabh, Ranveer come under darr/dusky complexioned. Even Deepika, Rekha, Priyanka are dark/dusky in complexion. While Fardeen and a plethora other rejected actors were of fair complexion.

which Bollywood heros are actually good looking ?

Salman Khan is the only undisputed good looking guy upto his old age.

Akshay kumar is attractive.

Khans are not even goodlooking , quite puny and dainty.

Ranbir, Ayushman, Karthik , Shahid have typical north punjabi kinda guy looks , they are so similar...

Viay Devrakonda, Madhavan , Aravind Swamy , Mahesh babu ,Venkatesh, Nag , Chiranjeevi in his hey days , Nani , Sree Vishnu , Suriya , Ajith , Prabhas , Rana are all quite attractive and good looking ...much more than BW guys .

I have not even added fair kinda actors of south the kind of looks BW likes here.

Because they are actors and their duty is to act! They don't have to dress up everytime they dress out and there's no airport looks etcetera! We only get to see the actors in the movies or award functions or social media which is rare. These kind of things make us look up to them/ worship them for their simplicity. Also the moustaches people are talking about, let me tell you guys they are kind of pride thing for us, you will very rarely find a tamilian without a moustache! And Nepotism in tollywood industry exists but look at them and movies can people really say they can't act for example Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, Mahesh Babu, NTR jnr, Rana etcetera and there are some from tamil industry Like thalapathy Vijay, Suriya, Atharva, etcetera. Maybe these actors just had a easy entry but the initial years have been as much as hard like other actors, nobody goes to watch a film starring Shruthi Hassan even though she's daughter of Kamala Hassan who's much more respected in the industry, no one is giving a damn to Jhanvi just because she's daughter of Sri Devi! The struggle for the actor to appeal to the audience is hard, Vijay Sethupathi is currently ruling but that guy doesn't come under the "Good looking" category! When we had a Jallikattu protest, actors came to the streets and sat with us till we got justice, they didn't just TWEET, they actually came down!

The thing here is Bollywood actually pretend like they are the only entertainment industry in the india so they give unnecessary hype to themselves.

Gully boy makes it to the Oscars, the same year we had Vada Chennai which actually had a story and a women who was recognised for her performance than male protagonist. Forget this, there are so many regional movies like Marathi etcetera which are dubbed and telecasted here, which are worth the award doesn't even get recognised! If bollywood stop giving a damn to looks and partying, they might actually receive the recognition from the other side of India.

Because South audience doesn't care about looks and not all North Indian actors are good looking unless you think that,

Fair skinned = Good looks.

Different standards? They don't need their leading actors to be Eurocentric handsome. Of course for women it changes

Actually you are right. In north, it's not that all people are fair complexion. Kamal Hassan and Rajnikant are quite talented. These are the only two men I know from South.

Nandita experienced it in Bollywood. Even Kajol is dark skinned and successful, still she felt like going for skin lightening. Dark skin is not ugly. Many Indians are quite partial towards it.

Perhaps it is because we buy into Eurocentric standards of beauty.

Beauty is subjective and what each person finds attractive is naturally different. But I do find that there is a bias against people who don't conform to Eurocentric standards.

Some Tamil industry actors are better looking than most Bollywood actors like Siddharth and Surya. Even Vikram is fine-looking (Funny how he looks better than his son). Siddharth and Surya look so young for their age. Southies look younger than Northies for some reason if they could groom well except for uncles like Mamotty, Mohanlal, Chiranjeevi, and Balakrishna. They are just irredeemable and their bad looks have got nothing to do with the region they came from. They look just like any other Indian uncle. Northie or Southie all the uncles look the same.

Telugu industry is truly a nepotism factory but we find good looking to medium looking men in the industry. We are well aware of the actors as the movies are dubbed in Hindi and like Bollywood they mostly make commercial movies.

Let's compare the actors' beauty who gives a similar feel.

Mahesh babu-45 (Nepotism: Telugu)>Ranbir Kapoor-38(Nepotism). This MB guy is de-aging, would like to know his secret.

Ranveer Singh-35 (semi-nepotism)> Ram charan (Nepotism:Telugu)

Vikram-54(Tamil)>Amir khan-55

Nagarjuna-61(Nepotism: Telugu)> Anil Kapoor-63

Ajith-49(Tamil)> Sharukh khan-55

Ram pothineni-32(Nepotism: Telugu) >Varun Dhawan-33

Hrithik Roshan-46(Nepotism)>>>>>>>>>>> Prabhas-41(Nepotism) (I don't know whom to compare HR with. Prabhas is not a good looking person but they both have mass appeal and make super-hero movies.)

Vijay devarakonda(Telugu)> Shahid Kapoor

Siddhartha malhotra-35>Varun Tej-30 (Nepotism :Telugu). Tej is quite good looking cleanly shaven.

Salman Khan-54(Nepotism)> Venkatesh-59(Nepotism: Telugu)

Akhil Akkineni-26&Naga Chaitanya-33(Nagarjuna sons: Telugu)>Tiger Shroff-30& Abhimanyu Dasani)-31

I don't know with whom I need to compare Surya-45(Tamil: Nepotism)& Rana-35(Telugu: Nepotism) to but they both are quite attractive.

Jr.NTR (Telugu: Nepotism) is not that good looking.

We can compare all the Bollywood celebs to not so good looking grandpas, who no longer are that much in the business, like Balakrishna(Telugu), Chiranjeevi(Telugu), and Mohanlal (Malayalam).

Why do we keep comparing Bollywood to the regional industries like Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam and not the regional industries like Bihari, Bengali, and Gujarati! The south industry did work hard and made itself worth being comparable to the most understood language, Hindi, in the country. Tamil is a different language, Telugu is a different language and Malayalam is a different language but they expanded their business in the neighborhood states down the south and now in the North too. Even the Kannada film industry is now trying to spread its wings. These industries are quite commendable.

I like to add that the Tamil industry doesn't shy away from representing dark-skinned people, unlike other industries. So, kudos to them.
